Engine pauses between gearshift DSG

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a Superb MY 2015, 3T tdi dsg, engine cffb.

In low rews like gentle acceleration, there is like pauses between the gearshifts. Its not more than half a second, and it feels like when you are driving a manual, you put the clutch down, shift the gear, but then wait 0,5 second to press the speeder.

If i do hard accelerations its not noticeable, only in low revs and mostly from 3-4 gear and 4-5 gear.

Could it be a laggy N75 valve, or do you have any suggestions how i could log this with vcds ?

It could also be totally normal, otherwise the dsg runs very smoothly, with gentle shifts up/down, no sounds or vibrations.

To " @mikkelvitus " - On how many Kilometers is the "DSG"-Oil? Is there a difference between, when you start the Car for the first time for the day and when you drive it for an hour or two?

Dsg oil is 30.000 km old. The box shifts very smooth, and no noises or vibrations.

The only thing is this little pause in torque when shifting low revs. At WOT there is nothing.

I think its the same no matter if the gearoil is heated or cold.

The shift from 3-4, and from 4-5, involves switching between the two gear trains inside the gearbox, so a slight delay could arise from that. In saying that, I've never noticed any delay in mine, though it may have changed in the facelift model. It's also possible that they delay is emissions related i.e. the combined engine/gearshift behaviour is optimised for lower CO2 emissions. I've driven some cars where there's a noticeable delay in engine revs falling on upshifts (I can't remember the specifics of why it helps right now) and it may be that the engine tuning is optimised that way, and the transmission is accounting for it in gearchanges.
