Laying up my Roomie

Featured Replies

Hello,
I'm after advice please.

I need to lay up my roomie for a couple of months. The car will be kept in a secure garage with electricity availlable.
Would it be best to disconnect the battery or to use a CTEK charger that I have. My prefered option is to disconnect the battery as infrequently the household consumer unit does trip

Thanks for any replies

@Mikebs More to the point; block it up all round, leave the handbrake off, and use a bar to leave the clutch disengaged.

Thanks for the useful tips Ken.

I would say more importantly you want to get your electrics looking at

Your consumer unit in your house is tripping for a reason, I would suspect you have a potential fire risk on your hands

Disco the battery and charge it up fully with your ctek before leaving.

Not sure I'd bother with anything else on that timescale.

The CTEK charger will handle switching of the mains power okay, it will switch back on the same mode/settings.  My own car tends to spend most of its life in the garage connected to a CTEK charger unit, and in when lightning stikes knock out our mains power, when it gets switched back on, the CTEK seems to pickup itself okay.

Hello rum4mo,
thanks for this information, that's really useful to know and will put my mind at rest if I decide to use my CTEK module
