EGR failure on the euro 5 engine on skoda

Featured Replies

Fabia registered March 2013 and mileage of 62000. EGR failed and SKODA  refused to pay any of the cost of repairs : £800 at my own garage, but £1200 at a Skoda dealer. There  is a six year rule for all consumer goods but obviously my  car falls just outside this rule which meant it should have been repaired free of charge. However, the car is potentially dangerous if suddenly it were to go into limp mode on a motor ,for example. I feel Skoda should foot all or some of the bill because of the potential risk.

Sorry to hear of your problem. You have posted in the wrong section.

However, you should understand EGR's do fail. You don't say what engine you have but getting 62,000 miles out of the EGR is not too bad these days. There are many variable that affect when or if an EGR fails and most of them are down to how the vehicle is used, and driven ie: short trips, lots of stop start, fuel used, and many many more things. I could go on for ever but this is not the place. Hope you get it fixed ok. But it's not a warranty issue.

Now moved to the right place.
