Black Badges

Featured Replies

Just seen the ŠKODA video showcasing the MY20 RS and I found it interesting that the car has black badges. For those with MY20 Sportline or RS’, are your badges chrome or black?

I'm hoping black for the Sportline I've got on order. When I eventually get a build week!

I expect they’ll be on the SuperSkoda website soon. 😊

The truckload of Kodiaq I saw the other day on the North Western still had their protective white stickers on over the back so no help... first I've seen with the new style badges tho.

There's always the Plast Dip route...

Wish mine was in that batch but had to wait longer for my spec.

This must be a MY19 i was sitting in this morning or just not black badges / letters.  Comfy.

Cars are getting more and more expensive at a phenomenal rate. Personally I would struggle to justify paying north of 40k for any car regardless of anyone's badge snobbery. But in future will likely have to in order to maintain the standard of car I wish to own. For example the new land rover defender 110 is priced from 45k, now that is loopy! Or you could effortlessly price a Mini (a 3 door version at that ) to well over 30k.

Wasn't the previous generation Defender already really expensive? £45K is indeed a lot of money for what is supposed to be a utilitarian workhorse, but I was sure that they've always been expensive...

You could always spec them up to a high price but the base "farmer spec", hose it out with vinyl seats version could be had at reasonable cost in comparison to its competitors. If you could say a defender had any competitors. Where as this new model starts at 45k (110 model) or 40k (90 model), God knows where you'll end up once a few options have been added.

People. businesses, farms, estates, utility companies, military, police bought 90's 110's, 130.s, 150's that got called Defenders after the Falklands. (1990's actually)

Not many leased other than from Hire Companies. people put up with rusting back cross members etc and crap parts.

They did have competition eventually, Japanese pickups that do the job perfectly well for many, and Mitsubishi's in 5 or 3 door or pickups. But they have just discontinued the 3 and 5 doors of them now.

A Toyota Land Cruised Utility is as good or better than the Old Defender 90 or the New 90 (102") which is not even available yet.

That's a case of "just not black badges / letters" - the "S  K  O  D  A" across the back means its a MY2020.

Those badges really aren't working for me... they are OK on a Scala I looked at but they look a bit "got bored and went to Halfords on Sunday" when stuck on a Kodiaq.

Oh well - another good reason to stick with my paid for S2 Estate and not cough up the €62,000 they want for one of those VRS thingies over here. I've saved a fortune today!

No Photoshopping  required as in the other Year 2020 thread, just a crap photographer like me.

(This being a Kodiaq Narrow Body edition. For towing Narrow Boats maybe.)

Actually - I could get this pre-facelift one. It's only £60,000 at todays exchange rate. I could get a Demo/Managers special for €2500 less though.

FFS - maybe I will get one when they come off a their PCP's in 3 years time. Can't wait to see the price when all anyone wants are hyrbids and electrics...

That is what they cost in a fortnights time with a full tank of diesel is it not and 5 litres of VW 509?

  • 3 months later...

I’ve got black badge back of my 2020 Sportline tdi. Really nice on the black magic paint.

Did you forget the photo!? 😂

Sorry about the dusty look.

Thanks @weldion

Was your SportLine supplied from the factory with the black rear badges?

Are they standard on the SportLine in Spain, or a factory cost option?

S = Sweden :)

There was a topic somewhere about model year changes and I remember reading, that RS and Sportline will get black badges as standard.

I did it for the first thing, when I received my car.

Standard on Sportline in Sweden. This is the first with black badge that my Skoda dealer delivered.

My UK Sportline has black badges from the factory.

I wish they had done the bonnet emblem as well though!

I just remembered this thread, black rear badging on the SportLine and vRS as standard from build week 48, approx. week commencing the 25th November 2019...
