wtf is a vRS Supersport??

Featured Replies

17" alloys, upgraded suspension, 167 bhp tdi exclusive to IML £13.995  in plymouth

A modded vRS by the sounds of it.

Any Links? Pictures? Or was it in the paper?

Sounds similar to the Venom in another thread - dealer specials. Perhaps Skoda are giving bonusses for vRS sales following SEATs revamp of the FR Beezer which may claim some sales back? Hence dealer specials popping up to increase turnover.

Sounds interesting....

Sounds like a dealer special.

When is a dealer going to do a "Rallye" special... Wide arch kit, fully stickered, white OZ wheels, FMIC, zorst, remap, big brakes, coilovers, alloy sump guard... Got to be worth

Following intense reasearch overnight ( I half inched a Green Slime Newspaper from a colleague ) I can now indeed confirm that it is an IML special.

The advert in the Plymouth Herald shows a yellow vRS sporting nicely lowered suspension, RS6 lookalike alloys and proclaims it's spec as:

Enhanced Performance 167bhp

17" alloy wheels

Lowered Suspension

blah blah blah

ABS

ASR

MSR (eh???)

Exclusive model available only at IML

£13995

Only worry I would have is although it is 14k new, it's resale would only be as a standard vRS owing to the fact that it's not a factory special edition.

Still if you wanted a modified vRS and they could cut you a decent enough deal with a PX it might be just what the doctor ordered.........

Can you find out any more about this?

I'm assuming it will still have the 3yr manufacturers warranty as it's done at the dealer.

Regards

Steve

Might give them a ring today!

It wont have Skoda warranty on the modified parts no, that will be up to the dealer to cover that. Which is fine unless the dealer goes belly up.

Insurance is obviously going to be an issue what with the new found problems on modified vrs's that some people have been experiencing.

Where do i sign? :)

Would you really??

Hi Guys

IML in Plympton is my supplying dealer. I too saw the advert in the Herald.

I'll pop in to see them in the next week or so.

a) To find out more. And B) To hopefully have a drive!

I will report back.

Larry

Larry, could you do us a favour and ask them what remap and suspension components they use?

I tried phoning them yesterday and the chap didn't seem to have any idea, at least going down there they may be a bit more helpful.

Thanks!

Morning all

Well I popped in to take a look yesterday . Easter Saturday.

The interior is standard, with cloth seats. But I imagine you could pay even more money to have the leather option. The exterior is also standard with just the addition of a small "Sport" badge above the rubbing strip on the leading edge of the front doors.

The 17" 5 spoke alloys have 'Italia Racing' on the centre cap. They are shod with Kumho Ecsta Spt tyres. 205.40.ZR.17 84Y

Being a Saturday, only sales staff were available. So a very friendly guy (Ian) couldn't (or perhaps wouldn't) tell me anything about remap and suspension components. Sorry Andy. All he would say is they use two different, local, firms to do the work. He assured me the standard Skoda warranty was unaffected by the mods.

As far as performance goes (no I wasn't offered a test drive) Ian pointed to two graphs displayed on the windscreen. They meant nothing to me.

Was I tempted? Well, let's say I got a trade-in price for my 04 53K vRS and I might ring the insurance company next week!

Larry

I would also check with Skoda CS to see if Skoda will honour the warranty not just the dealer  If that garage goes t!ts up in a year you could be left with no warranty

I phoned IML last week and when I mentioned warranties they couldn't give me a straight answer.:(

Decided to forget it! :)
