Don't drive through a pothole

Featured Replies

If you can help it!

Car in for service on Monday.

I was sent a video of the safety check and they pointed out a "fractured" rear coil spring.

"It's warranty, sir" (Phew!)

Later, "Hi, we've checked and they are on back order..."

Have a Octavia VRS estate whilst I wait...

As I said, drive carefully.

Too late mate. With my previous 2011 Octavia VRS TSI, I had a broken spring, one blown out tyre, one bulge in sidewall of a tyre and a buckled alloy wheel. The tyre that had a blow out, was the one month old new tyre I had fitted after the bulge in the sidewall of the previous tyre was replaced. With my present  2018 Octavia VRS TSI, so far this year, I have had some fairly deep scratches on an alloy wheel. All these problems down to pot holes and within the space of 3 years. In all my 48 years of driving, I have never seen the state of our roads so bloody bad!! I look like I am driving drunk, when having to steer "safely" all over the road to avoid the pot holes.

To replace a coil spring under warranty then they must have cause to suspect a manufacturing defect.

Suspension damage is nearly always attributable to wear and tear as far as warranty is concerned.

@Groaver

Same with me about 6 months back , hit a bad one and after there was a knocking noise on the rear offside

Took it in, replaced under warranty no questions asked ....

I'm not saying that I didn't but I don't recall ever hitting a bad one. I have 19" alloys and take my time dodging imperfections.

Still, glad that Skoda are fixing it and it is good to compare the Octavia with the Superb.
