Fault code u140600 static current too high

Featured Replies

Today I went to start the car it didnt want to start for about 5 seconds (never happend before I had to wait so long).

Then I check SOC battery change and it was on 60% (I think this should be on 80%)

While scaning with ODBeleven I got this fault code:

    u140600 static current too high

I dont have any external devices plugged into any of the sockets.

I drive the car regulary and long drives as well, so the car is driven.

My last oil service was several months ago and they checked the battery which was fully functional.

What could this be?

I'd double check your battery's voltage with a multimeter just to be sure it's sitting happy.

Actually I do have a usb charger plugged into 12v socket, but I connect my mobile phone only when driving. I have now unplugged it and the battery status come back to 80% after few days.  Was this the culplit I dont know, but I wasnt expecting usb charger would use battery if nothing is plugged into it.

Could be.

If the problem goes away if you unplug it, and doesn't return, you've more or less proved that it was.

Another fault that I have it's the phone charger that causes the issue.

If I run a scan with OBD11 with it plugged in, this fault code will appear 100% of the time, if I then clear the fault, unplug it and scan again, the fault will have disappeared. This is also the case if I shut the car down, leave the charger unplugged and do a 3rd rescan.

You'd have thought that Skoda would have fitted USB sockets as standard, along with an optional wireless charging system, which would have been perfect for my S8+.

While modern miniature electronics are generally reliable they can partially fail and cause all  sorts of odd issues, better to replace a plug in charger than have the car ripped apart to change an inbuilt charger.

There doesn't necessarily have to be anything wrong with the plug in charger, apart from it having been left plugged in to a permanent 12V source.
