map update question

Featured Replies

When I go to check for updates, it says there are none for my vin. I last updated it in Jan 2019 but its supposed to be twice a year. Does it know I have already updated? It can't do. I might well know I've downloaded maps, but it can't know I've applied them.

Or is the update server broken?

2015 Octavia. No idea what head unit. Amundsen or something I think.

2015 Amundsen could be MIB1 or MIB2 depending on build date - mine is an April 2015 build date and is MIB1, AFAIK the change to MIB2 was in May 2015?

The latest update is 2019/2020 so if you have that then you have the latest.

Same for my Karoq which is under a year old. The 2019/20 maps were there a few weeks ago. I wondered if it meant they were about to be updated but Week 45 isn't till November so seems unlikely. The alternative is to seek out the same maps from the VW site as they are identical (are for the Karoq) and they get updated and released earlier - and the instructions are better. Off to find the posts I read about this a couple of months ago - if I can find them.

I'm currently using the VW 2019/2020 maps in my MIB1 Amundsen - when the Skoda ones came out I did a file compare and they're identical too.

It turns out I'm using the 2019/2020 ones anyway, so I am up to date. However, the Skoda Update Portal can only know I've downloaded them, it can't know I've applied them, so with it saying non available, I still think there is a problem with the site...

thanks

Nick

The portal is doing the same for me......although I have already downloaded and applied them.

Same story as you lot - checked last week whilst casually browsing and noticed updated maps. Just checked again now to actually update and saying none available.

Seems safe to assume they're updating the maps their side, so check back again in a few days / weeks hopefully!!

Yep, same applies to my VIN so an update must be in progress. You could always try the VW site and download theirs as they're identical.

I hope it's not a sign that Skoda are intending to charge for map updates. Downloaded the newer VW maps which removes the trailer speed limit superimposed on the car speed limit but the split screen still indicates the first exit at the roundabout until you're past it, so indicating turn left at the roundabout for London when that actually goes to Brighton.

The map updates often disappear without cause or reason.

They usually come back within a few weeks, as other people have said it's nearing update time, so that may well be the (no pun intended) root cause.

So *that's* what that was....    :)

Wouldn't you think it would be clever enough to know you don't have a tow bar or even if you do, that you don't have a trailer connected?

It shouldn't make any difference as they're from the same source. So maybe skoda not so clever after all.

My maps are 2012/2013 and when I entered the VIN it says no updates available.  Can this be right?

It says that for everyone.
