Servicing options

Featured Replies

Just wondering what the best servicing options are? Are the Skoda service plans good value or would I be better off using an independent etc?

What's best is your decision and really depends on how good your local Skoda dealers / independents are.

When a car is under warranty the majority of people will stick main dealer for routine servicing. A Skoda dealer should be able to price match any local indi so potentially there's no cost advantage. Outside of warranty, I personally would err towards a Skoda dealership, again they should be able to price match. For work other than routine servicing tho, I'd be looking towards a specialist garage.

Your annual mileage matters and if you do checks yourself and any part of servicing and maintenance.

Checking tyres, oil, coolant, wipers, locks etc pre and post winter.

If the Service plan requires it to be 'Fixed Service Intervals of 9,400, 9,600 , 10,000 or whatever miles / 372 days does that suit you.

If Minor / interim service and Major Service and does not include brake fluid at 3 years or anything other than basic Oil Filter and nothing else till the car is 4 years old and not in the Service Plan other than the pollen filter at the 2nd service or 2 years old.

If you want Variable Servicing because you do high annual milage so at 2 years /18,000 - 20,000 miles or sooner & twice is the Service Plan offering that?

Paying these fixed prices for cars 3-10 year old on a car 1 year old then 2 year old would be crazy as you are only basically getting Oil & Filter changes for 2 years and a pollen filter.

It depends.

You can use the online booking service and get a fixed price service or you can ask a local independent VW specialist for a quote and see who comes up trumps for cost.

Just make sure that you check the independents reputation though.
