Rear shock info

Featured Replies

Am replacing the rear shocks is it good practice to replace the top mounts also as you would with the fronts or not as necessary??

Thanks

Not necessary.

Perhaps replace the lower bolt & lock nut with new and torque as per spec. I've had one lower rear ( torqued as spec) using the old nut+bolt start to work loose .

It's not necessary exactly but in my view (and experience) given the fairly cheap price of some Meyle ones I would swap them whilst off. They do give up and knock and creak, the Meyle ones mentioned usually come with two new bolts too.

Ordered the premium ones from GSF with the shocks at £15 a side so not to bad I guess...Will look see if I can get lower bolt.

Thanks ,Lee- I managed to get one from a local HI Q place.

Not necessary if old ones looks and feels ok. Lucky, I hade spare mounts when replaced shocks- for one of top mount aluminium ear with fixing bore was rusted and broken!
