Bad PCV?

Hey Guys,

 

i`m having some trouble with my 2015 O3 RS TSI DSG.

 

Between 1000-2000 rpm i hear some healing inside. I dont know if this is my DSG or the engine.

So yesterday i checked my parts at the engine and found this hose (attached).

 

After that i searched the web for possible failures.

Every 2nd Topic was PCV ...

 

I did some checks to figure out if its really the pcv:

- engine in idle -> put oil cap off -> was a bit hard because its a bit sucked

- engine in idle -> dipstick off -> hear suck noise every time i put it off

- engine in idle -> if i put off oil cap the engine starts ingreasing rpm 

 

What do you think?

Can you use a different word? Healing does not make sense in a car context.

PCV (positive crankcase ventilation)- how does that go wrong?

Doesn't sound like you have positive pressure in the engine.

part of the pcv is a diaphragm which can be leaky.

It sounds (literally) like your diaphragm is leaking.

I think when they leak, you get too much suction (at idle), not too little.

is there a little suction if pcv is good? like its only increasing suction?

that would be bad to inspect.... how do i know if the suction level is ok? :D

I think I was maybe getting confused.  The amount of flow at idle should be reduced by a working system with an intact diaphragm, compared to one with a leaking diaphragm. 

Not sure how the amount of suction that is apparent would be affected.

Here's a picture of one in two conditions of manifold vacuum (higher intake vacuum on right picture).  I think if the intake manifold is more connected to the crankcase (like if the diaphragm is torn and not moving down enough), there will be more/deeper vacuum in the crankcase at idle, no?

 

Usually you can unclip a plastic cover and visually inspect the diaphragm itself

It must all be more complicated in a turbo car...but I don't know about those.

I changed the Part today... man this was rough :) watched Videos on YouTube but mine was a Bit different.

 

so on. The engine has same behavior... i think It was ok then. I found little oil in the air intake. At home i opened the Old part and it Seems ok. No leaks at all.

@swarly have you solved your problem? I have the exact same engine and exact same issues. Already replaced the pcv with oem part, but i still have very strong suction when i try to remove the oil cap and also when i removed it the rpms go up.
