Update Portal not possible to download updates

Featured Replies

Trying to download up to date satnav files for my 2017 Rapid Spaceback,  homepage says "not possible to download updates" , if I try to input my vin it says not available for this vin.

Previously I have seen updates for my car on this page and searches on the web suggest this page is faulty. My car is not yet three years old.

Can someone at Skoda  fix it or is there another authorised site that works?

Thanks

Nigel

Hi Nigel,

I had my car in last week and this for aircon and maps issue, it is Skoda Germany they are having an issue with their website - they now know about it and are trying to fix it - so I guess keep checking back on the website. Alternatively there is a link on here to download the 2019/2020 maps which I did today and its worked brilliantly.

Cheers

Thanks Rob,

I found a link to 2018/2019 Amundsen MIB1 MIB2  but not the latest. Not sure which model I have.  When the car was about 1 year old I tried downloading from the Update Portal but it was so slow I had to give up after a day....   Direct link would be useful, are the ones on the Octavia pages the same as for the Rapid?   Shame you have to write to the existing card, as an ex IT person I don't like that,  I know you can hack a SD card serial number, might be worth trying with a different card once I get the correct files.

Thanks again

Nigel

I have been in contact with Skoda customer services via Facebook, they say they are working on the download portal and would let me know when it was working again.

I also asked them about using non Skoda SD cards in the context of MIB2 satnav SD card updates  and their reply is interesting ;

"The update does not need to be carried out on the original SD card, but we would recommend using an SD card that has minimum 16GB storage, is class 10 and that you format the SD card to FAT32"

Interesting as this conflicts with many opinions on the web however that doesn't surprise me, the proof will be when I try it for myself and I will post the results.

Thanks

Nigel

Using a different make of SD card didn't work, either with downloaded 2019/2020 maps or with the maps from my 2016/2017 working card.

With my IT background very reluctant to overwrite the good working card, it just seems bad practice, so will investigate changing the CID  to match the Skoda card.
