Dimming mirrors

Featured Replies

Hello guys. I have hope someone can help me. Few weeks ago I changed mirrors both sides. From 6 to 15 pins. Also I added dimming mirrors but that doesn't work. Any suggestions? I can control regulation also works fine but auto dimming doesn't work.

15 pins sounds like you have memory mirrors, so the reverse mirror dip will work properly with the right coding. But also suspect you need to code the door controllers to tell them that they have auto dimming mirrors fitted. It won't auto detect.

Where I should to looking for that? Long coding? Adaptations?

Long coding I suspect. That is where I told the controller I had folding mirrors

I gonna look around 1h. And I will write what I found 😊

You’ll need to run a wire from the interior dimming mirror to each door mirror to send the signal to dim. As soon as my new mirrors arrive I’ll be straight onto this.

Interested in these, how much were they auto dimming mirrors? I have an se l model with auto dimming rear view, would love to have the mirrors to match also!

Mine is supposed to have auto-dimming mirrors but only the rear-view appears to dim, the outside ones don't as far as I can tell.

I’ll be detailing this as I go on my build thread. Currently have a mirror stripped ready to go and just researching the exact wiring needed to make it dim :)

This was a fantastic feature on my previous Mk2 L&K Octy. I do miss it on the current one - as well as the mirror drop on reverse gear.

I do remember the glass for these was crazy expensive though which put me off thinking about this for the Mk3.

How much are the glasses for this model?

Not sure how much the Octy glass is but I recently replaced a glass in my XF which has heaters/auto dimming / Blind Spot.  Dealer wanted £250 per side but I managed to get online for £180

Sounds similar to the Mk2 glass then, over £200 a side!

Cheers!

They are over £200 a side but the memory motor isn’t expensive. I’ve stripped my new mirrors down now and I’m at the point of putting it all together again. Update soon.

Cannot wait to see the update. as getting memory motors for the reverse dip would be good.

Will update on my build thread when they are done. I am hopeful it’ll be sorted by the end of the week.

I am following this post! 🙂 The memory motor is working without  memory eats?

It's should be but my doesn't work yet.  I must put 2 cables from mirror inside then I have connected everything. Because dimming mirrors outside works same like mirror inside.

Yes, it requires a memory mirror motor and 4 extra wires.

Do you have the pin data for this? I know it needs to be done but for the life of me I have no idea where the wires will go in each door from the RLHS. More digging required.
