pulling to the left

Featured Replies

after 23000 miles my fabia VRS is pulling to the left. This is even on a very flat road. Checked the tyre pressures and I know I haven't hit a kerb or a big pothole.

The front tyres are evenly worn............... any ideas? Oddly the local dealer says all fabias pull to the left! Odd that I haven't noticed it in the last 23000 miles!

Oh by the way if anyone wants a set of brand new Skoda15 inch plastic wheel trims (my neighbour bought new ones for his Octavia and never used them) they are free to any member who wants them.

Wheel alignment.

All roads have a slight camber on them to aid water run off - the most common cause of slight leftward drift.

Yep try driving on the other side of the road (where safe to do so ;)) and see if it pulls to the right.

I've noticed that my Skoda was the only car I've owned that did pull to the left, despite correct wheel alignment, correct inflation of tyres, a new track rod end and new tyres. Just put it down to one of those things

Chris

Mine does it too. It's just been for a service where all that sort of stuff was checked, so I guess it's normal!

Mine pulls to the left too......

But I was told this due to the amount of torque the car has.

And Mine!

Is that when you're giving it serious welly or just cruising along?

Chris

mine pulls to the left since new dunlops fitted to the front , always drove straight on the original michelins , IMO i'd get the tracking checked/adjusted as necessary and if that doesn't cure it , swap fronts side to side or fronts to rear to see if it makes a difference .

just a point but I did ask Quickfit to check the tracking while I went for a coffee. Got back to be told that their tracking bar was broken but they swapped the fronts from side to side for me. Really handy that since I have Toyo T1R's. The tread pattern hence went backwards so I could go at full speed in reverse !!!!!! Shocking that a tyre fitting bay didn't notice.

Why doesn't that surprise me?

Hehe, I did that myself one time with a set of directional pirellis on my old golf. Felt like a right **** when they failed the MOT the day after because of it!!!:o

My old golf pulled all the time i had it (5 yrs) and i had alignment, tyre pressure, everything sorted. Must be one of those things you have to accept. Unless it's unbearable that is.

yeah, the dunlops on mine are directional, thats why i putting up with it for now and not doing side to side and didn't really want to put the 28k michs on the front

My Fabia doesn't pull to either side.

My old Corsa had a problem which took several years to solve. It would pull to the left. Took it for tracking and it would be OK for a while then start to pull again. Lots of tyres, set of shockers, lots of balancing and retracking. Went through MOT without problems. One day a rear wheel bearing started to make a noise. Replaced both rear wheel bearings after that I never had any problems and tyres lasted a lot longer - and I kept it another 150K miles.

i've had my vrs only 3 weeks and itstarted to pull to the left aswell AND its only done 700 miles.Would of thought skoda dealers could been more helpfull

mine pulls to the left as well

Ive driven along the wrong side of the road and the pull doesnt happen

So it does seem to be a quirk of the fabia and camberd roads

mine pulls to the left, ive had three fabias, two were vrs and the other was standard and they all pulled to the left, my dealer told me recently that they even changed the steering column on someone elses to fix it but i dont believe them bout that, said its just what they all do....sounds like load of rubbish tbh

doubt if they know what tracking is let alone the tracking ber adjustment

had 2 fabia's both from new with diff wheel/tyre combinations and different tyre manufacturers - both pull left and are very sensitive to camber. Ironically if you drive on the rhs they track straight as if the geometry has been set/manufactured for the continents camber of the rh side of the road. Have been down to Nice twice and on the French roads its fine. You can try it here at your own risk.

It might be 'normal' but its not how it should be. Other manufactures set castor/camber geometry for the UK and their cars drive straight [Octavia is ok]although they will drift slowly to the kerb but not as annoyingly as the Fabia. Tyre wear is even

In my last Fabia, it also developed a pull to the left. Nothing to do with road camber, or all Fabias pull to the left. From memory, it could be the anti-roll bar links. Certainly when we had ours replaced, the pull to the left stopped.

My 1.4 doesnt seem to pull to the left , or right. In fact , now I come to think of it , it probably wouldnt pull the skin off a rice pudding , let alone have the power to drag the steering to one side.

Hi, My car is pulling to the left as well , but only when accelerating from the 1st and 2nd gear. Did anybody experience the same problem? Can anybody pls help?

Ta,D

Mine has always pulled to the left :D

i have also found mine pulls to the left but after discovering the tyre pressures badly out of sync (higher right side) it never been quite as bad. as others have mentioned it will pull to right when driving on the wrong side of the road if normal tracking so ive put the left pull down to camber issue.

tbh its a difficult issue to quantify as i had slightly worse left pull on my old fabia 1.4. first of all i got the tracking fixed but this only calmed it marginally so slightly concerned took it to dealership who inspected it and found problems with the driveshaft (iirc) with only 5days of the warranty left.

oh and when i actually had to take the car back a week later for the repair to be carried out they huffed and puffed about getting the car repaired under warranty.

on my vrs the only gripe i have is the shudder from the wheels at 110mph+, im guessing a wheel balancing issue but havnt the time to get it looked at :(

Mine pulls left too, though if you lift off the throttle it reduces it a lot. Had tracking checked twice, and no uneven tyre wear ever. problem is that once you notice the pull, it drives you mad.
