mine pulls to the left too.i hit a pothole and bent a rim.went to skoda and they said the tyre pressures were wrong.i asked did they check the tracking and they said they couldnt as they hadnt the gear.thats 2 years ago but the tyres are wearing even.the car drives with the steering wheel pointing about 1 oclock.

Mine pulls left too, though if you lift off the throttle it reduces it a lot. Had tracking checked twice, and no uneven tyre wear ever. problem is that once you notice the pull, it drives you mad.

What mileage have you done?

that sounds suspisiously like wishbone bushes... Can you rock the front wheels from side to side (eg try to roll the wheel when stationary)

The wishbone bushes is a very common problem.. ive had mine replaced because i had a silly amount of play in them.. the front wheels would move about an inch each way

My vRS has covered 9k and pulls to the left also. I put it down to road camber mainly and/or tyres but I'm having the arb drop links replaced on Friday so will be interesting to see if it makes any difference. Not going to worry about it too much if it doesn't, just be nice to not have to listen to that knocking noise on everytime I go over a bump.

Had one in last week that pulled to the left. Had a test drive and the a look and noticed that the front roll bar bushes had gone and the bar had moved over to the left. The way that the roll bar is connected to the links and the links are connected to the strut the roll bar has a moment about the struts causing them to want to turn.

my fabia x-reg 1.4 mpi pulls to left ever since i had it.

I think the power steering could affect it also. There have been occasions where power steering failed (and steering symbol light came on). When I had no power steering, the car travels straight as a die. When power steering resumed on, it pulls to the left. Albeit very slightly left - even thought steering wheel is centre.

My Fabia VRS pulls very slightly to the left too. I don't think it's the camber because I've tried it in the outside lane, where the camber is to the right and it still tends to the left. The steering wheel immediately jerks to the left - at the '11 o'clock' position' even when crawling in first gear.

I went to an independent garage to get the tracking checked and there's no problem with the wheel alignment. It cost

My 2002 1.9 TDi pulls to the left and I thought the last mail had explained my problem. Then I realised that although my car pulls to the left the anti-roll bar has moved to the RIGHT,so much so that it has rubbed the corner off the casting it is clamped to on the nearside.

In addition to the steering drift will it totally ruin the casting(subframe?) if I dont renew the ARB and if so what is this likely to cost?

Nema, has you not noticed knocking or rattling noises when the ARB hits the aluminium console? You really need to get the ARB and its bushes replaced pretty sharpish - cost could be

My Fabia VRS pulled to the left from new, had many encounters with garages, wheel alignment specialists etc and no luck. Occasionally they said alignment was out or tyre pressures were out but even when these are corrected it still pulls.

I think that considering what people are saying on here and personal experience with this issue that the fabias must pull slightly to the left and is normal. I also think it is made worse by the camber on the road so it just seems like a greater problem for us Fabia owners!

I suggest that you just check tyre pressures and check for uneven tyre wear etc along with regularly getting 4 wheel laser alignment at regular intervals (every 6 months maybe).

My Furby also pulls a very little to the left and this is after recently having had four new tyres (all same make/model), the front ARB and suspension bushes all round replaced and a four-wheel alignment done. Would not having *slightly* higher tyre pressure on the nearside front tyre counteract the drift? Agree that is may be that the geometry of the car has been set up for continental roads and not adjusted for the UK?

Fabia 1.9 sdi 2001 y Reg... 111,000 miles.... just noticed mine has been pulling to left.... also had a knocking & squeaking noise (see recent posts) and had the Mod replacement anti roll bar done..... still pulls to left (slightly) as before....

Perhaps the front suspension /tracking/geometry, is geared to driving on the "wrong side of the road" (the continent) and requires the setting to avoid the car drifting into the ditch (i.e. opposite setting so it generally drifts to the centre of the road on the continent to counteract the road camber on the "wrong side of the road " ???

Does that make sense?

They all do it. Having unequal length driveshafts the car will pull slightly when under even gentle load.

Agreed. There is a slight torque steering effect, most noticeable on mine when accelerating from 2nd to 3rd up a slight incline.

The differential is positioned on the nearside of the engine compartment, so that the nearside driveshaft is 2/3 the lemgth of the offside. So changes in power arrive at the nearside wheel very slightly ahead of the offside. Road camber, when driving on the left exagerates this, as does the quirky and soft anti-roll system and chronic understeer at speed.

Understeer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm sure many of you will have experienced the net effect of all four of the above when taking motorway off-ramps into left-hand curve cloverleafs, at even moderate speed (60 M.P.H.) - handfuls of understeer on the way-in and a real kick-back on the exit.

Dare I say, it could be a bit of a safety hazard when driving on the right - especially when overtaking.

Anyway the UK DOT approved the type, so it must be OK and I'm sure that the SKODA CZ test driver got the full value of his Mobility allowance too!

For those of you with an electronic diff, as I have, I wonder if there is any input that could be made to the ECU values to moderate/mitigate the effect of torque steer ? - I suspect, as currently designed , the answer to that is no. The electronic diff is probably is designed to employ only momemtary drive shaft braking to change the power distribution.
