Do you know the part numbers of what you need?

If not, go here, scroll down about a quarter of the diagrams 'til you find the ones about "parking aid rear" and "parking aid front" https://nemigaparts.com/cat_spares/etka/skoda/oct/419/9/

Once you have established the part numbers you need, stick them in the search box here, with spaces deleted, and press "find it"; if there are superseding numbers it'll tell you, and tell you what they are:  https://oemwolf.com/

Then once you have the latest part numbers, stick them in the search box here https://www.allcarpartsfast.co.uk/#

There is a company called TPS that used to be a good source of genuine parts, but many of them tend to turn away Joe Public these days, only supposed to sell to trade.

Do you know of any of them that actually do turn away the public rather than the timid or unenlightened doing a voluntary U turn when they see the sign?

Like the electrical wholesalers on industrial estates its a planning issue that they are not supposed to (be seen to) sell to the public.

My TPS wants the business and does good deals to make sure you return, the main dealers on the other hand are 100% unenthusiastic about part sales, they no longer have any trained staff, the parts counter is unmanned and a salesperson will have to scratch his head and his balls while staring at the computer screen with incomprehension.

VW dont want to sell parts through their dealerships which is why TPS was set up, there may be some dealers around that still employ parts staff and who dont want to lose the custom and in that case I would expect TPS to turn Joe Public away.

I regularly see TPS delivering parts to the dealerships.

Yes, read the thread about which sell to the public, more and more posters are saying they've been turned away from places they used to get served at.

I had read it and also posted on it unless there are two perhaps, I'm pretty sure they all said that they had seen the sign and walked away.

My branch is Gatwick, they have the sign up but are keen to do business, its a telesales environment and the whole rear wall is one big whoteboard with peoples targets and performance, the branch performance etc.

To be fair to them they dont really want counter trade aside from collection of orders, 99%of their business is by phone and E-mail, there will be say 15 people on the phones only one of which will deal with counter sales, never seen a mechanic in there, always taxi drivers.

It helps is you know what you want, have the part numbers and are not looking for a tartan rug 😀

Maybe it's in threads scattered around the forums that I've seen mentions of loss of previously cooperative behaviours.

I'm sure it varies around the country, and may just be the temporary result of a head-office crackdown.

I thought the primary purpose of TPS was to sell genuine parts to independent garages, which will nearly always mean delivery to those premises. Hence the lack of focus on across the counter business.

Tartan rug?

That’s a very good part listing source @Wino.

Also I can confirm TPS Guildford now turn me away based on “head office” instruction and a note on the door.

Even though Skoda dealership is pretty disinterested in the odds and sods genuine parts I usually buy!
