Toyo T1-R or Pirelli P-Zero Nero?

Featured Replies

Need a set of 4 tyres for the Ibiza so sorry it's in the Fabia section but it seemed the most appropriate.

Currently have Toyo T1-R's which have been excellent and have no problem getting again. However I would have to get them from mytyres and arrange fitting seperately. Also tried black circles whose price is very uncompetetive so I have narrowed it down to these 2 options:

Toyo T1-R's

My Toyo T1-Rs were £80 a corner fitted this time last year, so your £300 quote seems quite good.

4 - 215 45 17 Toyo TIR's best I got was £332.8 Fitted, balanced etc etc for wednesday fit so your prices sound in the right area.

Ive thought long & hard & gone back to the Toyos as I recon they are stovking value for money

If I didn't have to get the T1-R's from mytyres and then arrange seperate fitting I wouldn't be considering the Nero's. However due to the positive comments I've seen on here about them and the fact they are only £10 more and alot less hassle I'm thinking of giving them a go.

I believe Jon did a write up on the Nero....he rates them...have a stiffer sidewall than say the Rosso.

I'm running Rossos at the moment and believe they are on par with the GSD3 I ran on my 18'' alloys...perhaps a little quieter as well...especially over certain surfaces where the GSD3 directional tread pattern kicks up a lot of noise.

Wet weather grip seem similar as well.

GSD3 cheaper than Rossos which in turn cheaper than Neros.

I have Nero's on 205/40/17 on my Fabia and must say they are rather good. I've not used Toyo so I can't compare.

I got 4 tyres from Mytyres for £264 and it cost only £24 for fitting and balancing.

If the wear rate is OK, I would definately get them again.

I wish GSD3's were cheaper then I'd definetely have them. Unfortuantely they're

I will be in the market for similar soon and although I'm not a fan of kwik fit that looks like agood price. ATS though matched a mytyres price for me on an avon zz3 which is a very nice tyre (not so hot on wear but good grip in the dry and wet) a year ago!(that was fitted inc vat i think was £75)

I would go for Kumho Ecsta KU31... in 215/40 profile.

ive got them at the mo, and had Toyo t1R before, i rate these better..

the 215's are 12 quid cheaper a corner than the 205

Hi Neo

How do the KU31s compare for wet grip and tyre noise against the Toyos? Also, have you ever run Conti Sport Contact II? IF so, how do they compare to the KU31 and T1R?

Just got a price through a friend for 4 Goodyear F1 GSD3's supplied, fitted and balanced for just under £320 which is only £5 more than mytyres supply only price.

This is currently my favoured option.

When I changed my fronts I got Toyo T1-R's over the Pirelli Neros coz of price. I managed to find a local dealer in Brum that quoted me £68 fully fitted per tyre for the T1-R's and went to Formula 1 Autocentre which matched the price, there initial price was something like £78 per corner but it was worth ringing around and bouncing prices of each other as £68 was the cheapest going. I think the Nero's were £80 fitted each. The wear on the T1-R's are pretty good and I've just swapped the fronts to back after just under 9k miles and theres a decent amount of life left in them. They're also a lot quiter compared to the original conti's I had on them which are now on the fronts and they make a racket, good grip though. If I can get the same price I'll be getting some more T1-R's on the back.
