Pull to the left. Tracked.

Featured Replies

Problem:

Car pulls to left.

History:

The car is tracked dead ahead for Toe . Camber  is equal for both sides, in green as is toe.  I posted on here a while ago on caster being out on driver's side and difference between front wheels is now 0.3 degrees after making adjustments on subframe passenger side. This didn't produce any real change in driving experience.

The passenger front is in range , the drivers front right wheel caster has a more acute angle / less positive

( in other words the wheel is pushed back ever so slightly towards rear of car  on drivers side)

I am confident the car is tracked properly. The fuel economy is the best it has been. At weekend I have bought some Fabia vrs 1 leather seats to replace the vrs fabric ones which I need to now sell. The mpg was the highest it has been. Reason for posting is on fast roads it is  annoying.

Driving on right of car results in car not drifting to left but dead ahead or only slightly to right. In middle/crest of road it still drifts to left but not as evident.

It definitely has a left bias.

The car has had 4 wheel alignment and rear of car is in alignment although I know it can't be adjusted without shims. Thrust angle was almost dead ahead. All in range

Front suspension was all replaced last year and cupra solid bushes installed in rear console of wishbone. The car developed this left bias 3 or 4 yrs ago without explanation.

I have read these articles

After reading these articles the conclusions were change the bushes (done), car is setup for driving on right ( it was ok previous in its life).

The only thing is I could not get the driver's side cupra bush fully in the rear console subframe behind wishbone. We are talking 4 or 5mm though. The spigot of the wishbone sticks out the back of bush as it should. If the bush were fully pushed back it would actually make the caster even more out and less positive. If the wishbone went further back i had the impression it would not locate in the slot for the front console bush and 19mm bolt.

The car is a real pleasure to drive otherwise than this niggle.

The car is very sensitive to camber. BTW the car has 8month old Michelin psSOn front and 2 or old same brand and ps3On rear. I don't think it is the tyres.

Do i just put up with it?

Mine's pulled slightly to the left ever since I've had it. It used to annoy me because my last car never did it but I'm used to it now. God knows what it is since it's had everything replaced.

When you have put new tyres on did this make any difference?

Tyre pressure on front? I'm running 34 psi front and 36 psi rear

The only time it has not veered left is last summer when computer alignment bluetooth tracked toe in 0.9 degrees on both wheels. I asked them to track ahead 0 degrees. The car braked itself. Mpg much reduced etc

Ive had two fabia vrs both pull to the left and ive tracked them my self at work to.

Have you tried swapping the tyres from side to side.

Most Michelins are asymmetrical.

The Michelin X climates are directional so don't swap them over.

New tyres made no difference and neither has trying different pressures.

It does seem to be a common trait with them.

Mine has had a left bias since I got it. Constantly driving with the wheel right hand down. All suspension components have been changed in the time I've had it. (kind of) learned to live with it. Although it's in for a hunter alignment tomorrow I don't feel overly confident that it will be sorted. Still love the car though :)

Michelin ps3 have no directional rotation marker (symmetrical Tyres). I think I tried this back in April. Winter tyres, pirelli going on soon so i'll wait.

Okay give me an update on here please.

All vehiclesin the UK tend to drift to the left as our roads are cambered that way to help with drainage.Even the motorways are a touch either left or right depending on curvature and drainage setup.

You can tweak this out.

How I do this depends what the car's alignment should be, Toe In, Toe out or neutral?

Mine is tracked neutral.

A garage I won't be using for tracking again tracked the front 'overall' / net  0.6 degrees to right. Car still had a slight pull to left. Poor equipment. The Kwik fit laser alignment showed this up. Putting a 1.2m spirit level over middle of side of front wheels with steering wheel dead ahead showed this up.

Toeing in or out too much will hurt fuel economy and cause tyre wear
