Engine code is always very useful when trying to identify parts suited to that engine. This is a three or four-letter alphabetic code that will be on your build data sticker in the boot, usually under carpet near spare wheel well.  Also sometimes there's a copy of the sticker in the service book.

Its also on the driverside door pillar on a sticker
Will post a pic whereabouts tomorrow
Too cold to go outside the now

Also @20vKarlos is yours a DSG by any chance??

Yep, DSG... what makes you ask that? I’m intrigued

I'd say that @DEL80Y is asking as DSG cars have two thermostats and its often the second DSG one (oil cooler thermostat) that is the cause of the issue. Many garages/dealers don't seem to know it is there.

 "This inline thermostat to the DSG cooler can stick open and cause the coolant temperature gauge to fluctuate and the coolant struggle to get up to temperature"

I’m guessing it’s CFGB

Yep, that's it. Engine thermostat is item 21 here: https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/superb/sup/2014-768/1/121-121007/   03L 121 111AE by the looks of it.

Dunno anything about the DSG thermostat, but it seems quite a common fault so maybe look at that first, or at least see if your symptoms mimic those described in threads where that was the fault.

@20vKarlos

Change the DSG first its the most common problem and FAR cheaper

Also for engine number its at the bottom of the B pillar tucked away behind the front of the rear door

the engine number is written on the right handside of sticker sideways

Afternoon all,

yesterday I had the Oil Cooler Thermostat replaced and the car is now perfect again.

thanks for all the help, I can always count on this place for good knowledge 👍🏼

@20vKarlos

Imagine how annoyed you would be if you took it to a dealer to get thermostat changed

Paid for it and still has the same problem

Then to take it back and them to tell you that "they have never heard of this problem before"😣
