Technophobe dumb question

Featured Replies

ok so here goes.

I have a facelifted (post 2017) Citigo but it 'only' has the Blues radio.

It only has an FM radio, too, which hacks me off, as I also like to listen to BBC 5live (this is actually possible with a good signal in the evenings, even in Poland!) Nothing I can do about that, is there?

Anyway, can I listen to the internet radio from my Android phone whilst I am driving? I mean can I listen to BBC sounds app instead of boring Polish FM stations? Do I need some special cable from the USB port to the round hole in the fascia of the radio unit?

I rather suspect that I have such a basic car that this is impossible, and should have bought a better car with the SWING radio.

Anyone with any help or advice? I would be most grateful.

You could try bluetooth receiver for 3.5mm port. You just have to do your own research which on suits for your purposes.

I presume you have a headphone socket on your phone, put a 3.5mm jack lead in that and connect to the 3.5mm media port on the radio. Go to media on the radio and select aux. I have a Pure DAB radio plugged into there, works a treat.

There's an android app called "Radio Player" has lots of different channels and I use it to listen to Magic :D

*What's good with this app, is if you favourite your stations, you can use the buttons on the cars own radio to switch between your favourite stations

*This only works as far as I know with the Bluetooth (PID unit)

If you dont have a PID, you can get nifty little BT receivers that will work as handsfree kit for the phone. 3.5mm jack lead from it to the aux input on any radio and stream from your phone. I have one i got for the Insignia, dont need it now with the Mk2 octy as the Amundsen+ has BT, the one i got was a "Jellycomb" cost about 30quid i think, and its a simple 30mm diameter disc about 10mm thick with one button - it answers and ends calls, or starts/stops playing mp3 streamed music. Probably work with a radio app too.

The only downside to them is while most are battery powered, you still need to charge them up.... but a bit of clever cable routing and you can hide 80% of the wiring to a usb charger in the cig lighter.

Must fiddle and fit it in swmbo's citigo one of these days, though i know shell never remember to turn it on or off.. :D
