Am I the first - order placed today for iV hybrid?

Featured Replies

Not sure when orders went live (Saturday?) but unless anyone tells me otherwise I think I've just placed the first UK order today for an iV 218PS. I've gone for a fully specc'd L&K, to replace our existing deisel, and reverted to a magnetic brown with beige upholstery which we had on our Mk 2 and loved. Delivery was offered for mid-late January - but I've opted for March to catch the new '20' plate. I believe each dealer is being allocated one per month for the time being.

Lots of upsides, but also a couple of downs in case people follow. With the batteries, no spare wheel is possible in the hybrid. And because mine will cost more than £40k (actually about £45k with pano roof, tow bar, and so on; but with dealer incentive, deposit assist from Skoda and trade-in the actual to me is nearer £28k) annual tax for the first five years is a whopping £465.00. Sale includes the first year, and I'll put in a charging point at home which currently has a government grant of £500 - so consider that the second year. After that it'll simply hurt for a bit.

There's nothing on the configurator yet, but the option is on the Skoda order system, and if you want to ask, you'll need to go through the options on that also.

Quietly excited!

Let us know how it tows on just electric. I'll open the betting at 20ft 😂

Haha, good point.

We're considering a re-jig of the cars we have, but are so far clear on only two things: one car should/must be PHEV and another (or the same) must have a tow bar. Combining the two features would suit us well, too, but how well does not work??

Yes I’d be interested in the towing side - what’s the weight limit on what you can tow?

I have a 280 primarily to get the weight up for towing.

I'll ask...didn't bother as all I tow are small trailers. But the batteries make it heavier I suspect which will make it a better weight ratio.

True but hybrids often limit the towing capacity - Passat was 1600kg but many are much less like 500kg.

Have been waiting for this for over a year but it seems I may not be going for one,

A friend put me on the Peugeot Friends and Family scheme and I can get a £7k discount off a Hybrid 508SW, so will be going for the Peugeot.

It has a smaller boot capacity but is a more modern car with a fantastic interior.

So it will be farewell to the 280 in March, will miss it.

I'd love the hybrid Superb but on our company car list they are just too expensive -will cost me £240 per month. As it's a plug in hybrid I don't get a fuel card.

Cheapest petrol engine Superb is £250/month

Outlander PHEV is better value at only £200 plus with a 2.4 engine I get 21p/mile for business mileage whereas Superb is only 12p/mile as less than 1.4ltr

Toyota Corolla hybrid will be £100 per month, not a plug in but a taxi driver mate of mine gets 60mpg out of his

Looks like it will be bye bye Superb next year😥

Good luck with the hybrid Superb....you'll make a 16yr old swedish girl very happy🤣

It's legal yes. 16 is APC in Sweden lol.

Back to topic, I'd hate the reduced boot size on the iV tho.

Isn't it only the area beneath the false floor? I need a flat floor so I keep the false floor in place, although I do use the space for blankets and stuff.

As far as I can tell the batteries are not eating this space it is the box to keep the charging cables in, so no reason you cannot remove this, as I think most people would only charge the car at home anyway so you could store the cables in your garage or whatever.

Looking at the video here

it seems that you could probably not just remove the box, but it is definitely just the false floor space you loose.

What I think is a bit secret and in future it might be critical expense is a possible repair price of electric drive + DSG DQ400E gear. According to ETKA (see att), att only complete unit can be ordered and costs more than 10.000,- EUR (w/o TAX). So if there will be a need to replace the clutches, who knows how Skoda will take care this...Consider the same unit has been on the market more than for 5 years in Passat GTE, Golf,...

To be honest, I am gonna order iV too once I get the answer how to deal with issues in future without paying 10k EUR.
