Snow chains on 225/50 R17

Featured Replies

Hi

Hope this hasn't already been covered elsewhere but I'm wondering if any one has used snow chains on 225/50 R17s? They are not listed as a size compatible with chains in the user manual for my Octavia Scout. I rang Skoda UK who were little use and suggested I get in touch with Skoda in France.

Any advice, suggestions?

Thanks Neil

Only fit snow chains with links and locks no larger than 12mm

205/55R16 6Jx16 ET48

205/55R16 6Jx16 ET50

205/50R17 6Jx17 ET45

205/50R17 6Jx17 ET48

Only fit snow chains with links and locks no larger than 9 mm

205/60R16 6Jx16 ET48

205/55R17 6Jx17 ET48

However, check the manual to be sure:

There's no mention of 225/50R17 tyre size. It's not just the tyre size, you also have to consider the rim width and the rim offset that the tyre is fitted to. 6J means the rim is 6"wide. ET48 means the rim has an offset of 48mm.

Thanks for the reply. I'd already checked the manual and can only agree with your info. I'm going to fit all season tyres and maybe purchase some 7mm chains and hope I dont ever need them.
