Guys/gals

i mentioned on a previous post about upgrading to is38 turbo.  I found a company called littco, now the guy who did all the work on my car said he had some customers come back having had turbo from littco and very bad experience with blown unit and even engine, I know people normally talk about the bad and never the good.  You tuber gassed up swears by littco having done both his golf r and now his beemer.   Littco tweak the turbos from stock.  I have been told just need a plane stock is38, anyone got any experiences, knows a good reliable supplier of is38 🙂

I started talking to littco over weekend and meant to be speaking to them this pm.  Gassed up praises them significantly and I spoke to him also via his Instagram and again he talked very highly of them.  Trouble is it only takes a couple ofbad comments to plant seed of doubt.  My guy said all I need is a stock is38, stage 3 apr tune and hp fuel pump, when mentioned littco he reacted by saying stay well clear.  I think the guy knows his stuff but I just wanted to get peoples opinions or experiences 🙂

Can't speak from experience but Littco seems very highly regarded on the golfmk7 forum. Their L380 is an IS38 with strengthened bearings and turbines so it couldn't be any worse than a stock IS38.

Hi there

spoke to them today chap dan I think knows his stuff alright.  Given me something to think about,  so something for the new year 🙂

The car will run on the IS38 with no tune. It will not make much extra power without the fuel to go with the air but the engine can protect itself just fine. Lots of people do maps for the bigger turbos, including the likes of APR.

There have been reliability issues with both the IS20 and IS38 in the early years, mainly the actuators so make sure you get a late version of the IS38.

Couple of places do hybrid turbos, TTE turbos are well regarded also.

If you are messing around like this a JB4 can be a useful tool for data logging and seeing what works for the engine.
