Bonnet release problem when battery dead.

Featured Replies

The rear wiper fuse is always the safest bet.

Is it possible to use a small power bank with a cigarette 12V to USB adapter to get the doors to open? Power output should be very low (1-2A at 5V) to cause troubles but enough to get the doors to open?

Maybe - if you disconnect the battery - but I assume whatever you connect to the car will be immediately sucked up by the battery as it attempts to charge itself.

When the AA man did mine (jump started) he had the small booster pack (not that small) and leads going to his van to start mine - the booster pack alone was not enough.

I got back off holiday the other day. Had left my dashcam plugged in drawing a current. Alarm started to sound in the evening when we got back and I quickly realised what the cause of it was.

Anyway both front doors were deadlocked and could only get access to the rear doors. (Eventually learned about the cap you can flick off the drivers side handle and used that to get into drivers side)

No possible way from here on in to get at the bonnet, at least that's what I though until AA showed up.

Turns out you can gently manipulate the bonnet lever to open the bonnet from inside without opening the passenger door.

Quick jump start and right as rain again (after 30 mins of running time)

Thought may be useful to anyone who has come across similar issues before..
