Buying an 8 month old L&K

Featured Replies

OK I have seen a car I like the look of.

its on the forecourt at £28995

The dealer wont move on that figure at all but want a whopping 7.4% apr on a PCP deal over 3 years. Which works out at £4k in interest over the period. So the final price of the vehicle is £33400.

The reg is saying £22 to £24k through the usual ‘we buy any car’ outlets that the car is worth to buy in.

I’d have thought a markup of around £3500 or am I being naive or just hopeful?

The price is upto the Dealer, if he won't budge on price that is his choice, but it is his commercial decision on how long he will wait to sell it vs someone agreeing to the price.

If you don't like the price don't buy it.   Its a game how much you want it vs your risk you can find another

The PCP is an offer, you are free to get a bank loan at a much better rate and not take the PCP

Unlike a new car there will be no manufacturer subsidy as they would prefer you to buy a factory new car to keep production going, the used one is just competition for the factory

Mark up, even if you assume one sixth is VAT, £2500+vat = £3000 mark up gives a nice little earner to dealer

There’s nothing stopping you taking the PCP deal and any discount/ deposit/ service benefits they are offering and then paying it off straight away with either cash you have or a loan at a much lower interest rate.

I think you could get a new one for more or less that price via a broker and with 3.9% PCP and a deposit contribution

Thank you that’s interesting

Is it either of these? I'm guessing not if you're in Liverpool...

I got a 7 month old L&K for just less than £26000, with 750 miles on the clock.  Took a bank loan to pay it over 5 years to keep the monthly payments down, with the intention of maybe changing at 3-4 years.

That was 3 years ago..   I'm now loathe to change!

The top L&K silver one is interesting Ill have a look at that one

thanks

wonder what the fuel consumption is on a 190 petrol?

I'm also interested in an L&K specification Superb. That's mainly because of the added comfort/features you get only on that spec. I've wanted to find an L&K 272 car but I've found that there seems to be less flexibility from dealers on this model in the range compared to the L&K 190 cars. This has caused me to spread my search away from 272 and towards a 190, which would be more likely to fall into my price range. On the question of dealer flexibility, from my initial conversations over price and after my recent searches of dealer websites, I've noticed that prices have been falling. In some cases, the amount that's been sliced off has exceeded £2000 - and this just happens overnight! In the case of Sportline Plus 272 models, the prices there have come down really quite steeply. Maybe it's because dealers simply have more of those that they need to sell. However, if potential buyers were willing to accept the reduced spec that they'd get on the 272 Sportline, for example, then there seem to be bargains to be had. I'm sticking out for an L&K, for the reasons I've already mentioned. But, if price is the more important factor, and you've got to have the power of a 272, I'd recommend potential buyers to check out the relative bargains to be had from a Sportline Plus 272.

Had a new L&K 190 TSI for couple of weeks and (IMO) fuel consumption isn’t bad (believe it should get slightly better once engine run in).

For a couple of 80 miles trips, motorway with 10miles town driving I’ve seen 47mpg (per car computer) mostly using ACC on motorway. Pretty impressed so far. Didn’t go for diesel as not doing enough miles (or 280 because of...well just couldn’t justify it to my SO)!

For me, 190 TSI has plenty of grunt when moving. I’ve enjoyed the motorway and city trips as long as you’re aware of slow throttle response when pulling out quickly from standstill.

Hope this helps - not proclaiming to be an expert, just my opinion. Try a test drive at dealer if unsure and you can find a 190 TSI available.

thanks that is useful.

will test drive and make a decision

47mpg sounds reasonable about the same I was getting with my 190 DSG 4x4
