New Map Update

Featured Replies

I've found Waze to be a lot more reliable than the inbuilt system.

The Columbus and data-SIM in my Kodiaq seeks out traffic jams for fun and routes you right to the back of them 😂

Waze relies on the movement of it's members, perhaps there are more active subscribers in the UK than there are in Estonia.

Do not doubt about Waze subscriber amounts (or hords) in Estonia :)

Waze has newer maps and it`s algorithms work quite well. But I do not trust it 100%. Like said, I am driving a lot all over Europe, so my conclusion are not local based.

Just an example; 2 years ago in Wales. Waze shows a little shortcut. Ok, let`s turn in. Shortcut was about 500 meters long, but at the end I had almost fold up the side mirrors to get through the narrow street. Or not even a street, more like a footpath.

Lots of similar examples.

That sounds like a pretty typical lane in Wales. In my experience across the UK, France, Belgium and the Netherlands, Apple Maps, Google Maps and Waze are all significantly better than the inbuilt system.

I do sometimes use the built in sat nav in Europe to help with lane choice on motorways (Because Apple Maps loses this functionality outside the UK), and to spot how far away service stations are - but I never rely on it for routing as it consistently picks bad routes, and *always* gives an incorrect ETA. The built in satnav appears not to factor in traffic into the ETA until you’re actually sitting in the traffic.

No doubt, Google maps are the best.
