The new one just says 2020. When inserting the SD card, system says new updates found.

The latest on the Skoda update portal is P184 ECE 2020.

Having trouble downloading 2020 map onto SD Card, starts ok then when it reaches 15% of download I get message saying it's been interrupted.   anyone else having this problem ?

Yes, I'm having all sorts of problems. First time I downloaded, the download appeared on my screen and then promptly disappeared. I've had a couple of interruptions like you and then then last time it had downloaded, there was actually nothing in the file.

I'm currently downloading again and this one has been interrupted already so I'm not holding out much hope of a success. I've even turned off my firewalls this time, which is a daft thing to do, but I don't think it will make a difference.

I thought maybe it was something I'm doing wrong, so I'm gratified to learn that I'm not the only one affected. I'm doing this in exactly the same way I did it last time and I'm using the same equipment.

I will give up if this attempt fails and hope there's a fix forthcoming.

Hi I've finally managed to do the download :-)  when I have previously downloaded maps directly to an SD card I had no problems,  but this time it did not work.. So I managed to do the download to my hard drive and then copied it to the SD card, and everything worked just fine... hope this helps other that maybe having problems..

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas

I'd be grateful for some advice, this is my first time updating the navigation system.  I've just downloaded the file (25.7GB) to my laptop then tried to copy it to a 32GB SD card but it says the file is too big to copy.  I'm obviously doing something wrong.  If someone can give me simple step by step instructions I would appreciate it.  How can the file be downloaded direct to the SD card? If you can't achieve that how can you transfer the file from the laptop to the SD card?

Your SD card is probably formatted to FAT filesystem.

Format it to NTFS.

I'm no computer whiz, but here goes. What Linni said may be correct and could be worth trying if what you're currently doing fails. Having said that, last time and this time, I transferred the files to a memory stick that's formatted to the Fat system and it worked fine last time and appears to have worked this time, although I'm still in the process loading the files from my hard drive to the memory stick.

A 32GB SD card is what Skoda recommend and should be enough.memory. My flashdrive is 32GB and worked fine before. Was your SD card completely empty before you tried transfer your files on to it ?

In my attempts to download from the Skoda Portal, I tried one directly to my flashdrive which didn't work properly. In my latest attempt, I downloaded into the download file on my laptop, then I bought up two minimised boxes on my screen. One shows the downloads from the download file and the other shows my flashdrive (F memory in my case). My download box shows 3 files were downloaded from the Portal, so left click your mouse on the first one, keep the mouse button held down and then drag the file over to the other open box and drop it into your SD card memory.

Once that's transferred (it takes a while), do the same with the other two. It' probably possible to highlight all 3 files and drag them over, but I chose to do mine one by one.

Hope that helps, but I suspect I've made it as clear as mud.

Further to this, I've now transferred all 2020 map files and also the UK radio stations from Portal to laptop to flashdrive making approx 30GB in all.

The one thing I haven't yet done is a transfer to the car infotainment system. I'll post again if it blows up 😟

Thanks for the replies.  After tinkering a bit I right clicked on the file I downloaded to the laptop.  There was an option to 'Extract All..' which I clicked on which brought up a window to browse to the SD Card and I seem to have transferred the files that way.  All I have to do now is work up the courage to try to see if I can make it work in the Kodiaq.  It would have been nice to have had better instructions on the Skoda website.

No courage needed Lorian.  On the infotainment screen go to settings. Scroll down to system, click on that and you will see two options, update software and online software. Plug your memory stick or SD card into the USB slot.  The screen will say 'reading USB/card'. Once that is done the screen will go back to the two options. Click on update software and the infotainment searches for the upgrade. Once it finds it, it will start to download.  You don't need to leave the car on. You can lock up and leave it to it.  Takes about 40 minutes.

Thanks. That's useful to know. I thought you would only be able to update it if the ignition was on.

I just simply made sure the SD card was empty and after downloading it to my hard drive , done copy and paste of the downloaded files to the SD card.

All downloaded into the car now, it took just over an hour.

Why on earth it was such a pig to download from the Portal this time is anybodys guess 😖

Nope, don't need the ignition on to do the update.

I updated my car a couple of days ago. Used an external USB hard drive with no problem.

Has anyone noticed any discrepancies since downloading the latest 2020 sat nav mapping ?

I used mine in anger yesterday for the first time since downloading it a few weeks ago and over 100 mile round trip, it led me a merry dance. It did eventually get me to (almost) the correct destination but the routes it took me on were very much at odds with the most direct route.

Someone might say that I entered the wrong colour route, which may or may not be true, but it occurred to me this morning that at no time when entering addresses for my journey was I offered the opportunity to enter a post code.

So I'm wondering if the new version has faults, or if maybe something got ******ised during the transfer from the Skoda Portal to my car. The download from portal to memory stick was certainly not a straightforward affair this time compared to the first time I did it.

So is anybody else experiencing problems ??

I haven’t met any problem - but then I update only the countries I want, and do so (very quickly and easily, with minimal data) as I drive along, using the data from my installed SIM.

I enter postcodes orally:  press the “voice” button on the steering wheel and (even without triggering navigation) say “enter postcode”.  It then asks for the postcode to be spoken.

Well we learn something new everyday, I had no idea that entering a postcode manually was possible. Trouble is, normally when I go somewhere I haven't been before, my wife is with me and acts as wingman and does the sat nav. Therefore I'm not as conversant with it as I could be.

I've now found where to enter the post codes, but unless I'm doing it wrong, it won't let me enter both a postcode and a city which I find rather odd.

I tried entering a Bedfordshire postcode earlier (which starts MK) and it wouldn't let me get beyond the M, so something is amiss I assume.

Check out the navigation settings: plot a quickest route, avoid unpaved roads etc.

Tried loading a post code verbally just now. It was a bit hit and miss to start with, but it worked eventually when me and the voice started to understand each other 🤔.

Entering a post code manually is hit and miss, sometimes it would accept the whole code and other times it would go no further than the first letter.

My old stand alone Garmin is much easier 👌

The inbuilt sat nav is poor, whichever version of the maps you have installed.

It isn't until you plot and navigate a route alongside Waze for example, and are able to follow them concurrently (one on the infotainment screen, the other on your phone) that you realise how poor it is. We're not talking a few miles / minutes, I am talking significantly longer, and this is on local routes where I am familiar with the shortcuts and rat-runs.

As a result the inbuilt system is all but redundant in my Kodiaq.

Matter of taste.

I like the inbuilt satnav. Liked it in Superb and like it in Kodiaq. I am driving a lot. All over the Europe. 70 - 80 000 km per year.

Always having car`s satnav running. And Waze, simultaneously.

You cannot trust either of these completely. Sometimes one surprises you unpleasantly, sometimes the other.
