foldaway towbar

Featured Replies

major regrets not getting the nifty factory foldaway towbar. no longer available on NZ spec sheet. possible reasons? still available for European orders?

It does look a good solution, invisible when not in use, but I couldn’t justify the cost as I no longer have any use for one and I’m not sure you’d get your money back on it. But if you need one - perfect.

PS I did have an OEM rear camera retro fitted and it’s well worth it, I guess more so if you have a tow bar as you can line up the hitch perfectly.

Seems to still be available in the U.K. brochure

Both the towbar preparation (£190) and towbar (£885) are still available factory options on the vRS here in the UK...

I can thoroughly recommend it...

Why don't you call your local dealer and get them to retrofit it for you? There's a reason why the foldaway towbar isn't available anymore from the factory for our market.

don’t want any protrusive bits to smash my shin against . can’t figure why importer  would pull the option, apart from lack of profitability

When did I tell you to get the dealer to fit a fixed towbar???

If you actually understood what I said, dealers are now able to retrofit the electronic folding towball.

So why don't you do us all a favour and tell us why Skoda NZ have dropped the option over there.

If your posts weren't so devoid of detail we'd have half a chance of understanding them.

If Skoda NZ don’t supply the factory-fit folding version for a reason, does that reason mean that Skoda NZ don’t supply (or an official Skoda dealer won’t fit)  the folding parts?

In NZ, there isn't just one standard towball size, there's 50mm and 1 7/8". Because the factory doesn't fit the more widely used 1 7/8" ball, Skoda NZ decided to offer the 50mm or 1 7/8" electronic folding towball (used in Aussie) as dealer retrofit options.

Ah, thank you.  So the folding towball IS available from the factory, as supply to dealers, but is not fitted there.
