Skoda Felicia 135 to 135M.

Featured Replies

I have 96 1.3 135 engine. Works with carb. Can I convert it to 135M means 1.3 mpi fuel injection system. Which parts I should find out and replace from my existing vehicle. Thanks.

Your 135 engine has 42 kW now. I don't recommend the 135M conversion since the power is lower (40 kW). Best conversion is to 136M (50 kW).

The conversion is in fact an engine swap since an injection engine is totally different from a carburetor one. So basically you need to find a good 136M engine with computer, sensors, immobilizer, ignition keys, dashboard. It is not an easy job.

Now, reading your first post in Felicia with carburetor topic, I understood that your decision to swap the engine is motivated by a high fuel consumption. Having a slightly newer Felicia but on carburetor too, I know for sure that you only need a carburetor tuneup and most importantly the intake vacuum has to be perfect. It is a 2 hours job and new carburetor parts for somebody who knows the carburetor.

Lean that thing out to the extreme, pray to the head gasket gods not to overheat and blow it up, and then you are going to be consuming less than 7 litres city.
Wont pass emissions though.
Anyway it would be beneficial to tune it and maybe lean it out a bit.
But still a mpi conversion is the hardest route.
You can also play with the low speed jetting so that the car runs leaner on lower rpms and richens up at higher.
Sadly I dont know the tuning possibilites of those jikov carbs so I cant tell you what exactly is feasible.

An injection engine is not so different to the carb version, but the conversion will not be easy: I have converted my old Favorit carb engine into MPI in my Felicia, the intake manifold is interchangeable, it is the wiring that makes it difficult: as long as your gearbox casing has the hole for fitting the crank position sensor, and the flywheel cut out must be fitted in the exact same position with both no1 pistons at TDC !. you have to use the MPI coil, and drill and thread a hole for the knock sensor on the back of the engine: which is much easier while it's out of the car. Obviously you then need to fit an Ecu to make it all work, so you would be better to fit the whole front half of an MPI wiring loom, with its ECU.

I'd say that it would be easiest by far if you got a running felicia from a scrapyard with a gearbox and everything, and literally swap it all into your car.

While at it, it would be easy to do a thorough service of the mpi engine, replacing seals, cleaning the cylinder head, replacing the gaskets, and so on.
Having a working donor car would mean that you'd have all of the components there.
