Anyone Know Which This Is?

Featured Replies

hi all,

have a hi-fi which is just gathering dust under my bed, so got it out, and tried to find out how much it is worth if it is worth anything at all. But i don't know which type/model it is. have taken a few pics to see if anyone on here can tell.

All i know is its an ALBA. cant remember how long i have had it.

TIA

I'm affraid it ain't worth diddly. You might get a fiver at a car boot sale!.

Yep, worthless - sorry!

Unfortunately not worth much i'm afraid. Friend of mine took his £250 JVC stereo to cash convertors a while ago, he'd owned it a year, they gave gim £40 for it, and then advertised it as £150!

I have photos turned off at work (where I am now) and can tell you that its worthless "All i know is its an ALBA" was the clue.

yep-alba gives it away!! its probs about 10 eyars old i think.

another thought-would i get more for jsut selling the speakers and dumping main unit? (not dumping but getting rid of)

The speakers wont be worth aything. Anyone who'd consider buying speakers seperatly would be the sort of person that would want decent ones.

Also, cheapo speakers tend to have co-ax connectors not wire crimp type connectors.

Dump it.

Just bin the lot. :P

It's disappointing but anything electrical moves on so quickly in terms of performance and reduced cost that most everyday items are a sunk cost (no return) from the minute you buy them. Plus there are rules about selling eletrical appliances secondhand re wiring checks so even charity shops are unlikely to take them, irrespective of quality.

To consider the calming Feng Shui benefit of a clearer space with no dust is probably worth more to you in all seriousness than the amount of hassle almost anything will give you in trying to sell it in the long run. How many of us have gone the selling route and eventually say "Oh, s.. it" which might as well have done in the first place

Jason could put it on ebay and with his gift of the sales patter most likely get a bit for it.

I don't think it's completely worthless, Lorna. Ignore the hi-fi snobs and put it on eBay, or in the local paper free ads. Someone may well buy it for one of their kids.

Although, here is, I suspect, a comparable Alba system -

It would do for the garage, that how i tend to look at old steroes.

bung it in the caravan

I'd just say that advertising in any way which means unknown people coming into our house is something I wouldn't even contemplate these days. Selling a car off one's driveway is different of course.

ebay is good in that sense (or not re other considerations) since one is selling via post against details rather than expecting some sort of home demonstration.

I know this is stating the obvious. That'll be me then

Wouldnt' you need a very long extension lead to get a 230v supply to it ;)
