Autoglym Lifeshine

Featured Replies

I’ve got a new Kodiaq on order. Collecting in March. I’m undecided about whether to have Autoglym. They said it should be£399 but they’d do for £199. (oh and you get lifetime protection & a bag of cleaning stuff)

I have a dodgy back & i’ve heard that makes it easier to clean. We will be keeping the car for 10+ years.
we may be carrying little kids and I’ve heard the guarantee to be able to get marks out in the interior.

- So do you think it is worth the £199?

Welcome to the forum.

No.

It is worth the £28 or so and an hours labour. Even though it does not take an hour to apply.

Rather give the profit to a detailer rather than profit to the Dealership & Commission to the salesperson.

My father in law has just received a karoq with the coating and cost a side it seems to perform well.  Had he asked me I would have suggested he take it to a local detailer I know for a fraction of the cost.

I imagine part of the cost is a kind of insurance as they guarantee the protection?

Such products are very dependent on the quality of the application, and I doubt the average car dealer takes much time or care over that! I think the money would be better spent towards a ceramic coating applied at a specialist detailer

Find a local detailer and have a New Car Protection detail completed.  It'll serve you much better.

I've had it done on both my current GTI and previous vRS.  I've watched the dealers staff/contractors washing/prepping other people's cars, and they're not allowed anywhere near mine.  In fact I'd prefer they didn't make eye contact with them! 🙄

Gaz

Agree with other comments about having a New Car Detail by a local pro valeter.

The key to the finish is surface prep, which the garage guys simply won’t do. When I had my car done (brand new) the chap spent 6 hours with a rotary polisher before applying the coating. The difference was remarkable!

the picture with 2 pictures if you see what I mean shows the before and after

I got offered a similar (if not the same) pack from Evans Halshaw for £300 which they then dropped to £150 for the exterior and interior.

I bought it all from Halfords for about £40 and did it myself (interior shampoo, vinyl/rubber cleaner, aqua wax and liquid shine). Recently got some decontamination spray and "lifetime shine" spray in the sales too for £18. So all in it cost £58 and I can do it as many times as needed.

From new a bought a tub of Autoglym High Definition Wax and have been applying it at 3 monthly intervals. After 6 years my paintwork is like new and still feels smooth to the touch. Tub cost £45 and only half used. That is the cheaper option.
