How Do Skoda Warranties Work?

Featured Replies

So i'm looking at a second hand Skoda - it's two years old (2018) so still a good year within the warranty of the car, but not sold through a Skoda Approved garage.

  • Will Skoda continue to undertake any repairs relating to faults/problems up to the end of that 3 year warranty window directly despite the change of ownership (this would be the 3rd owner)
  • Can any repairs needed as a result of faults/problems be done at any Skoda dealership garage or is there any limitation on which Skoda garage is used e.g. the Skoda garage that originally sold the brand new car

Likely silly questions and the answers are likely straight forward, however thought it best to ask just in case there were any little clauses that put limitations on how a second hand Skoda is dealt with by the dealerships.

Hi,

The non-Škoda selling dealer you are

buying from will not impact the warranty....as long as it has been serviced on time and with factory specification parts and evidence to prove (if previously serviced by non-Škoda dealer too)

The warranty will cover any manufacturing defects up to 3yrs. You don’t need to take it back to the selling dealer; and franchised Škoda (Service) Dealer will be able to carry out the repairs under warranty. Back sure you get any problems investigated and fixed in the warranty period and then invest in the extended warranty if you are risk-adverse. Owning the car for a year will give you confidence that you have bought the right car and not one that has a number of issues.
Good luck.
