End of an era

Featured Replies

So, after 12 years, 210,000 miles and 2 Roomster the time has come for a replacement. The suspension needs a complete refresh - front end sagging, knocking from the rear. Various other little niggles were developing and it was not worth spending too much money.

I've owned two Roomsters myself and would happily have bought a third.  Yeti was the nearest thing available at the time so I bagged one of the last ones to be made.  Kamiq is on my list of possible replacements for Yeti so I would be interested to know what you think of yours after a few months of ownership.

Enjoy your new car

Well done and at least you've run the engine in for the next owner.Nothing really matches the Roomster space wise on paper. That said Kamiq would be my choice of replacement.

Good luck with the new car!

Kamiq wasn't out when we chose to replace our Roomster so we went for a Karoq.

We got a MY19 Scout which came with the Vario-flex seats as standard and the panoramic roof which our Roomster had and were must haves for the replacement for us. While the seats aren't as practical and the boot floor is raised, the seats are far more comfortable than in the Roomster. There is a bit more space in the boot however. And while the cabin isn't as airy as the Roomster it is more comfortable and has more toys.

Enginewise, we had the 1.6TDi 105 PS Roomster and it had plenty of go for our needs along with rather decent fuel economy. We didn't have a lot of choice in the engine department for the Karoq so we've got a 2.0TDi 150 PS 4X4. And again it has plenty of go for our needs and the fuel economy isn't terrible. It is the family car and really only does longer runs.

I just find myself wishing it was an Octavia vRS every time I drive it having had one previously. Ah well just have another three years to go...

Did you consider a Golf SV as a replacement?

Considered lots of things as a replacement. Only got the Kamiq because it was available as a pre-reg and available.

The Kamiq os doing OK so far. Boot space is not as good, but the technology upgrade is welcome!
