Heated door mirrors....

Featured Replies

Hope this doesn't fog up the issue any further:

Until 04/2002 the heater timer was 20 minutes - after this' date=' the default was untimed (always on when selected)

You can VAG-COM the timer settings for the heated mirrors:

Controller adjustment

STG 09 (electrical system) select

STG Login - > function 11

Note: Before the adjustment a Login has to take place.

Logincode: 21343

STG adjustment - > function 10

- > channel 003 (heatable outside mirror)

Disconnection time of the heatable outside mirrors.

Range of values: 1-253 = 0,66-173 min

Default value (to 04/02): 29 = 20 min

Default value (starting from 05/02): 254 (without disconnection)

Cheers

does this mean you can adjust the length of time the mirror is on ?

AFAIK this means you can adjust how long the mirror heater is on from when you select it -from 40 seconds to 173 minutes - or continous. (Default values are 20 minutes on up to 04/2002 and continous on from 05/2002 onwards.)

Same "controller" allows you to adjust timers for heatable windshield, rear window heater, how long you have to press the remote to unlock the boot, etc.

I used the same "controller" (with VAG-COM) but a different "channel" to increase the "highway comfort flasher"cycle (indicators flash when stalk is tapped) from 3 flashes to 4 - giving me a comfortable extra second to make sure there are no loony-tunes where I intend to be before changing lanes.

Odd - when I got my car (with the heater "on" setting at the top of the switch) I had to have a part replaced as the element had burnt out.

My dealer told me not to switch it on unless needed as it would burn the element out. I have got one of the early build Fabias, however...

Does the left hand mirror move in harmony with the right? The Golf used to do that I remember now, but not tried it on the vRS.

No it doesn't!!!

Or to be more explicit it does on early vRS's up to 09/04 but not on the facelift model (including mine) from 09/04
