Seatbelt extender

Featured Replies

I have difficulty reaching the seatbelt socket and I am looking for an extension to this but cannot find where to buy one from. I tried on Amazon but the extension that arrived would not plug into the socket or connect with the seatbelt. I am in UK. Any ideas welcome. Regards, Jonathan

There is more than one seat belt clip fitting, you;d have to buy the right one. No reason they shouldn;t be cheap if coming from china, but do you want to rely on it ?

Have you a disability, or are you simply very fat ? Its not my business and I don't care, but its fun to gently take the mickey and suggest you eat more lettuce, cucumber and carrots instead of chips and beer.

Joke aside I think you'd need to be fat to ensure the rigid belt extender when used contacted the body in the about the correct place - a skinny person (with restricted movement say) would have way too much slack in the belt (to accelerate into) under sharp braking - and just hoping the pre-tensioners work.

@ignoramus There's certainly a time and a place for everything - but if it's not your business and don't care, then I suggest that this is not quite the time or the place to excercise such views.

you're right. this isnt quite the place for me. Too many dullards who dont understand how to change alight bulb, let alone my feeble attempts at wit. I'm off. Bye bye men in nylon trousers.

To those who dont understand that - most of you - the men in nylon trousers are socially inferior to the author, with tedious banal attempts at conversation due to their tedious and small minded attitudes to life.

Haha, what a social failure.

Is using your left hand to click the belt into the socket an option?

I think your best option is talk to a mobility specialist.  They're likely to have more experience than any of us in this sort of thing and be better placed to guide you.

Offhand I'd imagine a longer replacement for the standard buckle assembly (if such a thing exists) would be preferable to an extension device.

Is there any organisation nearby that can offer you advice on this sort of thing. Motability maybe?

As others have said it's a safety device and it needs to fit you properly as well as fitting the car.

Not the sort of thing to trust to cheap Chinese steel.
