I’m thinking of buying a 2015 Skoda Fabia SE L however the car doesn’t come with Smartlink but Mirrorlink instead. I’m aware that cars before a certain time in 2015 came with the Mirrorlink software instead.

As I understand, the hardware is identical it is just the software that varies so I was wondering if there is anyway of updating the software to work with Smartlink. I am capable with computers so don’t be scared to be technical!

Pretty sure mirrorlink and smartlink headunits have different hardware and I'm not aware of any unit being 'upgraded' by changing/fixing the software.
