Hey mate it's Martin (Red rs) from across the road in Bris. Have you tried cleaning your maf meter? I was having similar problems with mine until I changed the maf meter. it's worth a go i reckon.

If you do clean it yourself you've got to be careful, about £80 from the dealers.

just got my car back from the garage it was a split air pipe down near the manifold took the garage a day to find the bloody thing the pipe was £29 and £120 labour well at leat it goes much better now

its quite suprising how much power you must lose when its losing air as it seems to make a big difference now

Hey man glad to hear you got your car sorted in the end.

The vacuum pipe splitting is quite common on the 1.8T.
