Dipping mirror on reverse

Featured Replies

Am I doing something wrong?  Both mirrors dip on reverse... they don't seem to return to their previous position. Do I have to manual reset them?

No they should return to normal position at speeds exceeding 15 MPH, or thereabouts.

Have you gone gone through the procedure to set them?

I set them to dip in settings/mirrors. I think they were still down when I got to the take away, I was hungry so probably drive quicker than 15 Mph 😁😁

I thought I saw on another thread that only one mirror lowered (the left) and only if the mirror selector was pointing to the left mirror control?

That's what I thought, which was why I was surprised. I will drive it tomorrow am and see what happens... might be ignorance, stupidity or both...

Just incase it helps anyone, I have one of the seat memory buttons programmed so that it puts both mirrors down.  So when I pull up to reverse, I press the seat memory number and both mirrors point down so I can see the lines of parking bays etc.  Not ideal but I find it a useful work around.

Now that is a fantastic idea!

That's very interesting!

How would one go about doing that, if you don't mind me asking?

The mirror positions are stored with seat memory so set the mirrors down and then store the seat position to memory in the usual way.

Shouldn't Auto dip  work when Reverse gear is selected.  You need to tick the box ( mirror dip ) in the car settings under Mirrors  ( I think )

The OP's problem is that they are dipping and then staying there rather than lifting again afterwards.  Although I'm sure that with mine it just drops the left mirror and not both, so there seems to be some discrepancy there anyway.

Thank you, DB72, that's extremely clever. 👍

Effectively you're just storing your normal seat position on another button, but with an extreme downward mirror setting.

Will be trying that asap.

Nice hack! Even if it means you are effectively wasting 1 out of your 3 memory slots available just to get both mirrors saved in dipping position.

I currently have mine full: one setting for me, one for the wife, and one for long drives to which I had settled during a 8hr Autobahn drive and proved to be very comfortable, hmm...

Thanks for all the helpful replies. I ensured the door mirror control was switched from the central/neutral position to the left and now just the left one dips  and returns to its position. It’s badly adjusted so many thanks to penguin17 for pointing out the seat/mirror setting procedure. I will ‘fix’ it this am. Just realised last night that like my old VRS, the exterior mirrors are auto-dimming so bonus! I also didn’t realise that when parking, the rear camera stays on when you flick from Reverse into Drive. Simply Clever...er than me. 😊

Yes it does waste one of the seat memory positions but in my case i'm the only person that drives the car anyway and I expect most people don't have three drivers.  Anyway, glad to have helped those that would find it useful.

I'm one of those too as I like the idea, just need to decide which slot I have to waste!
