Sat Nav/phone not working after visit to garage for key coding....

Featured Replies

Hello,

This is my first issue and the reason I joined the forum - I adore my Scout but when I bought it one of the keys had snapped so I went to Skoda in Inverness and booked it in to get a second key sent and coded. In the end they accidentally ordered two, so gave me the second one free which was a bonus!

However, since they had it in to do the key, the satnav and phone/bluetooth doesn't work. It just says 'phone not available' and 'nav currently unavailable' and so I booked it back in for today, but then they had no record of my appointment so I'm now having to wait until March 4th.

It's the Amundsen Infotainment system that I have, and it was perfect until it went to them. They seem to be saying it's coincidence, but I'm thinking perhaps something got turned off accidentally....

They also changed MODE from Eco to Normal when it was there too.... so weren't just looking at the keys.

I just wonder if anyone else had had a similar experience, and might have an idea what's caused this?

Hi,

sounds like during the key programming they have "reset" something. I had this with one of my cars a long time back when they did some work they somehow coded the wrong radio in and it caused many issues, quick fix when I tool it back.

I really hope so. They claim it isn't something they did, but I hope it's something simple... thanks

FionaDriver,  I am in exactly the same position as you as I took my 2016 Skoda Octavia Scout to the local Skoda agent to have a key programmed and when the car was returned the first thing I noticed was the clock was

showing the wrong time which I reset.   A couple of weeks later I wanted to navigate to an address and when I tried to use the navigation unit I got the following message.  'The navigation date in the infotainment system is not valid.  Please check data.'

It has been suggested to me that I should update the maps which I have done previously but this is not possible as the navigation part of the infotainment unit simply will not start.

I intend to contact the dealer today to see if they will accept responsibility for the non functioning of the navigation unit.      I will let you know what response I get.

ohhhhh blimey. They are refusing to admit it might be them, but the chances of it stopping working right after it's been at the Skoda garage are slim I feel... good luck!

Hi Fiona,    I am fortunate that the local Skoda agent accepted responsibility for the navigation not working in the Infotainment unit of my vehicle.  They

reinstalled the unit's software which restored it's full function.   There was no charge for this work.

Hello - I'm afraid that when they looked at mine I got a call to say that it needed a new software update, at £114, and they wanted another £114 to put it on the diagnostic equipment. I was very unhappy about it and they halved it. What's the chances of the software stopping working the very morning they have it to get keys coded? Not impressed.... but it's working again now. I notice that didn't include a map update though!!

Software updates and map updates are two separate things.

To get the latest maps visit the Skoda Update portal, enter your VIN and you'll be shown the latest maps available for your car to download and install yourself.

Hi - I've been on the website and downloaded the appropriate map. Not sure I'm brave enough to install it just yet but it's there if I need it! I do notice occasionally there are roundabouts missing on the current one... cheers
