Yeti cruise control retrofit

Featured Replies

Can I retrofit cruise control to my 2015 2.0 TDi Yeti using this and coding with VCDS?

Its a poverty spec model but has the MFD and steering wheel controls.

Secondary question, do all Yetis including the base model have steering wheel controls and Bluetooth fitted as standard?

There has been a previous thread about this, but it might have been a while ago.

Bluetooth was not a standard fitment.

Thanks LG.

I did several Google searches but most results were either Octavia or Pre F/L Yeti.

Were steering wheel controls standard?

The cruise control controls are on the indicator stalk, not the steering wheel?

There is very little difference between pre and post facelift Yeti's, other some small body differences mainly. I've had both and the cruise control was the same. And to be honest I expect the Octavia system is the same as the Yeti.
There are no steering wheel controls for the CC.

I have confused you both by asking the question re steering wheel controls in the thread about cruise control, I realise that they play no part in its function but like the Bluetooth I simply wanted to know if they were standard or specified as an extra.

My vehicle I'm pretty sure was a fleet vehicle, no extras aside from the (now confirmed) Bluetooth which would make sense for someone having to keep in contact with the ops base, wasn't sure if the steering wheel controls were an extra and if they were why they would have been specified although perhaps for operating the Bluetooth?

The radio seems as standard as you can get, tiny and doesnt even seem to have a display, all the Bluetooth menus were on the maxidot.

So returning to the cruise control, does the stalk look like the one in the F/L Yeti? It says its is and seems the same as my Octavia, does anyone know what module needs recoding for the CC or whether perhaps it needs a later revision number?

On my Octavia I know the engine ECU has to have the CC enabled for it to work but dont know whether the brains are actually contained in another module.

The stalks are the same, pre or post facelift.
As for the rest, haven't a clue. You need to talk to a VCDS expert.

I'm doing research to retrofit CC, MFSW and RNS310 at the moment. I think the steering module and airbag wiring will need to be changed for the MFSW, and CC should just work when the stalk is fitted and coded with VCDS.

There are VCDS pages on FB, or you could look at the Ross Tech website for retrofit instructions

I have the MFSW so should have a highline controller but according to Rosstech my one does not support CC, as the stalks are only £35 I am tempted to buy them and try coding.

Whats the worst that could happen? :D

Why wouldn't a highline controller support cruise?? What is the part number?

Have you checked the wiring into the steering controller plug to see if the necessary wire (black from memory) is in place ? (It was fitted to my 2005 Touran even though it didn't come with cruise)

As to the cruise stalk - you can buy the left hand stalk on its own for peanuts on ebay

I havn't seen just the LH stalk, would you know the part number?

This is my steering wheel controller:

Address 16: Steering wheel (J527)       Labels:| 5K0-953-569.clb
   Part No SW: 5K0 953 521 DP    HW: 5K0 953 569 AG
   Component: LENKS.MODUL   016 0162
   Revision: FF010042    Serial number: 20141217201283
   Coding: 1082040000
   Shop #: WSC 33361 790 00078
   ASAM Dataset: EV_SMLSNGVOLWSXS A01004
   ROD: EV_SMLSNGVOLWS.rod
   VCID: 7DA7FAF04D74520FA1F-8028

According to Rosstech it isn't compatible but if the stalk is cheap I would have a punt, am in another country from the car so dont know about the wire but any info you have would be welcomed to look for it.

I screwed up the formatting of that trying to remove the extraneaous text,  what is to the right should be below

Steering angle sensor - NO

MFD - Yes

CCS/ACC - No

MFSW - Yes

AT - No

My vehicle has an MFD and MFSW, dont know what AT is and presume the steering angle sensor must be on the power steering controller.

Whats your view?

  • 1 year later...

Resurrecting an old thread, sorry.

@J.R. Having the benefit of stripping down my 2012 Yeti I now see that the steering controller arrangement is entirely different from my 2010 Yeti.

Did you manage to get cruise sorted out? I guess a new steering controller and stalk sorted it?

I let it drop, the confinement came in soon after & the car was hardly used, its only done one proper long journey in the 15 months since, I have reverted to how I was before having CC for a couple of years on the MK2 Octavia, I don't miss something that I have never had = I have forgotten now that I once had it and appreciated it.

@J.R. That's a blow, I was hoping to pick your brains :)

sorry about that, all the time the car was stuck in the UK while I was stuck in lockdown in France with nothing to do I was dreaming up things I wanted to do to the new car, once I had it and was using it cruise control is for my current circumstances not worth the effort to do as it would rarely be used.

I am fairly sure I would have needed a column stalk, a different revision clockspring and to have fitted a missing wire to the loom.
