Driver lock door problem!.. Please Help

Hi:
I would appreciate your kindness to watch the following videos.

The story is like this:

My car, Skoda Octavia RS 2017 Mk3, has been detained most of the time since I work from home.

At the end of January, and after almost 10 days without using the car, I wanted to take out my glasses that were inside.

When I put my hand on the handle, the latch did not open because the car battery was very low. I waited a moment and tried again. At that moment I managed to open the door and I could take out my glasses. Once inside the car, I tried to start the car, but as expected, it did not start.

I got out of the car, closed the door and didn't activate the latches. And I went on vacation 10 days.

When I returned, I bought a new 760 CCA battery, quite expensive.

I installed it following the respective instructions, and the car started the engine without any problem. However, when I went out for a ride in the car, when I reached 20 kms / hr, the latches were activated, but I felt like they "bounced". That is, the doors were not secured.

In the garage (mechanical service) they told me that the fault is the lock cylinder (107837167LH). The diagnosis they gave me was that a sensor that goes in the cylinder broke down. As this diagnosis did not convince me, I talked to a Skoda mechanic and he told me that because of the symptoms it is more likely that there is a problem with the lock itself (5E1837015).

Both parts are very expensive, especially since I am writing from Chile.

I would like to know if someone has had a similar case, since I have searched everywhere and I cannot find information to know where the problem is and why it was generated.

Thank you very much for reading this long papyrus and for the comments.

regards

Mauricio

Hi Maurcio

Have I got this right - Are you saying that you've set your central locking to automatically lock all the doors as soon as you drive off, but when the car begins to move, you can hear the central locking trying to operate, but it doesn't lock the doors?

What happens if you press the central locking button ( the one located in frnt of the gearshift ) when the car is moving - does that lock the doors?

Hi Scot5:

Sorry if I didn't express myself well. My English is not very good.

If you watch the two videos you will see that neither the remote control nor the central locking button activates the driver's door latch. This happens with the vehicle stopped or when 20 kms / hr is reached.

The only way to leave the car with a locked latch is by using the key.

For me, the cylinder is fine. The problem would be in the driver's door lock motors, but the technical service insisted that it is the lock cylinder.

I leave a picture of the two faults  that my obdeleven accuses.

Mauricio

It is either genuinely a lock fault or the system has got itself into a pickle - and thinks that when it tries to lock, it actually performs an unlock.  Does this issue only effect the driver side door or is it the whole car that is suffering from this problem?

I tend to use lithium grease in all the catches and hinges - which lubricates all necessary parts too.  A light dusting of carbon powder in any key lock.

Cars (or any mechanical machines) - don't like being left standing around, so I can only recommend that once you have fixed it, that you should try and drive it and actuate the locks as much as possible.  The other thing is to try and use a solar panel charger - which will (assuming there is sunlight where you park your car) - should keep the vehicle battery topped up.

I had my driver's side door locking motor replaced under warranty, due to locking issues.

They were the car locked me out, but opened all the other doors and after locking the car, I could come back to find it unlocked!

Hi TheWanderer, Do you have the spare code than was replaced?

Thanks!

I'm afraid not.

All I know is that it came up with door locking motor (open circuit).

Since they replaced the motor, I've had no further problems.

hi my central locking doesnt work on the rear door of my 2007 fabia,is it powered by the front door, the other 3 doors are ok...any ideas

Hi umbriargo.

I suggest you check the cable harness of the door with problems.

In a Yeti we have at home it happened to us that the third brake light stopped working. The problem was a cable cut from the branch.

It is a common problem in the cars of the VAG group.

It is best that you do a scan and detect the exact error.

thanks i will........never thought of that

I had a similar problem years ago with a Renault, but back in the days when things were far less technical.  Like you, the central locking worked on everything else apart from the driver's door - had to use the key for that.  In my case the fault was traced to a faulty solenoid inside the door which was responsible for physically moving the locking mechanism in the door.  Using the remote or central locking button inside the car would trigger all the solenoids in all the doors, but as the driver's door one was "lazy", it didn't perform the operation correctly.  Using the key in the lock gave the system a physical "shove" sufficient to move the locking bolt successfully.  A replacement solenoid was a lot less expensive than a whole new locking mechanism, thankfully.

Hi ... Well, I finally bought this article: https://www.ebay.com/itm/132299477687

When I arrive and install, I will tell you if it solves my problem.

On mine, 2017, when I drive off, the doors automatically lock at about 15 mph.  If one then presses the lock button by the gear lever, the doors will unlock.  I think if this goes out of sync it could be the problem.  Does one want to drive with the doors locked or unlocked?
