Sat Nav update

Featured Replies

Hi all, I have a Rapid Spaceback 1.2 tsi, The sat nav needs to be updated. Is this easy/hard to do and how would I go about it? Thanks

I believe that the Sat Nav info is contained on an SD card which fits in the head unit or in the CD player in the glovebox depending on model. The non OEM SD cards can be found on E-Bay for less than £30 and they contain the latest maps. If you feel rich you can get a card from Skoda.

Thanks for the reply. 👍😎

No need to spend any money. The skoda map checker (uses your VIN) (http://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/en-GB) will tell you what the latest maps are. Download this (9.3Gb last time I did this) and extract it onto your existing SD card from the car. A sensible person would copy his SD card data first so he knows he has a working copy of the data.... the extraction process replaces all of the files that currently exist on your Skoda Navigation SD card.

I can’t see where the SD Card would be, I have a 2015 rapid! Thanks

Herself's 2018 Rapid has two SD card slots in the bottom of the glovebox. Hard to see unless you get all the cr*p out. Your 2015 may be different; but if you have navigation in the car then the data is somewhere,

Early 2015 Rapids (and older), have the RNS315 (Amundsen Plus) with SD slot to the left of the HU screen

Hi all, Just been on the portal and to quote “ there is no software updates available for this VIN please contact your local retailer for more information. Your navigation can only be updated at the service. Please contact your dealer. Any ideas thanks

You need to buy a "New" (not used) sd card with a valid maps update for your unit. This is a single use card (hence why a used one is no good)  and once used in your machine it'll lock the card to that particular machine. The maps are uploaded to internal memory and stored on the machine, then the card can be removed.

There are issues with later maps versions, V9 is the latest stable version, while V10 and V11 may cause the unit to become unstable and randomly shut down - restart.
