Brand New Scala - What to do?

Featured Replies

Hey guys so if you guys remember from my first post, I will be getting my new Skoda Scala Ambition in about 2 weeks or so. I'm assuming it's only going to have about 4-5km on the clock because like I did mention it's brand new right out of the factory.

My question is should I take my Scala on a long drive as soon as I get it? Obviously I know the rules of driving a brand new car, NEVER max out the RPM's and keep the RPM's low, at least for the first 500km's or so. Is it a good idea to take the car for a long drive just to make sure everything is working fine without any issues?

Am I reading this correctly? During the first 1000km, rev the engine to max?!?! No way, I'm sure that's a joke.

It clearly says rev to 3/4 of the Max permissible engine speed: not rev to the Max!!

Oh my God, they could've worded it differently haha, Rev the engine to max. Thanks for correcting me.

Manufacturing tolerances are so good these days that engines don’t need to be “babied” as much as they had to be in the past.  Just don’t thrash it (which is basically what the above excerpt is saying).
