Which section do I post this in for help? headlight part number, problem and sourcing

Featured Replies

Hello all!

I hope everyone's doing well and no one's been arrested for drunk driving whilst trying to avoid potholes! Can you give me a hand please?!

Car failed MOT because of a broken headlight mechanism inside the light assembly. Apparently there are none in the UK. And I'm barred from driving the car because of the failed MOT; not what I expected because the car's below 5 years old bought from main dealer a year or so ago.

It's near/passenger side headlamp.

The existing headlight has label with code "957 941 019" (without a doubt) not the 657 941 019 that is the part number I expect per ChatGPT. I don't understand the difference in the leading 6/9. I can't seem to upload the photo I have in this message; maybe it's because I'm new which is fair enough.

Help me out please. Where (which section?) should I post this here for help finding one; I can't drive the car because it's failed the MOT.

I've tried the people at skoda parts direct? When they say they've got the part available, what they mean is they'll ring someone in Europe and try and order it and you wait 2 weeks If they find one. Turns out word definitions have changed.

I've tried eBay, but as you might have guessed if there's none in the UK, they're only broken ones on eBay.

Thank you in advance

Al

I sound stressed. I am but I don't want to sound that way.

Your post is now in the Skoda Scala forum.

Hopefully a fellow owner or other member will be along to help soon @scalaboris 👍

Thank you kind sir and apologies for the hassle. I looked through the long list and there were about three that seemed possible but I didn't want to litter.

I'll message you requesting the VIN, which will allow me to confirm correct current part number.

It's possible that the number you've seen is a sub-part of the overall assembly, or simply an error on the label.

Check your messages.

I wanted to thank @Breezy_Pete for his patience with me going off on a little wild goose chase and for providing the info that stopped me.
Thank you very much, Sir.
