Rear spring or springs broken. Replace with standard or is there a better alternative?

Featured Replies

Came out to my car this morning and found the back and smashed on the floor, looks like at least one rear spring collapsed most likely both.  Putting it down to the medieval speed bumps at the hotel were staying at and traveling home with 3 lard a**es in the back seat last night over them.  Replacement doesn't look like too much of a job but am I best to go with standard springs or is there an upgrade option?

Car is 11 years old with 110,000 miles on clock so not saying these are sub standard but rear is not exactly stiff?

I'd welcome any suggestions or experiences.

I got some Bilstein B3 springs and shocks for mine when one spring went, I couldn't say for sure but the rear end definitely seems a bit firmer and maybe sits a tiny bit higher

You don't say what engine you've got or whether it's hatchback or estate as the springs can vary depending on the configuration.

However, the Skoda Superb MK2 hatchback OEM part number for rear spring is 1K0511115BH for most engines up to 2 litre.

For the estate the rear spring OEM part number is 1K0511115DE again for most engines up to 2 litre.

You can use these OEM part numbers to search for aftermarket springs on websites such as ebay.co.uk and autodoc.co.uk

You can check the OEM part numbers at a Skoda dealer parts department. Just ask them for a written quote for new springs.

You can check the OEM part numbers using the gknautomotive.co.uk online catalogue.

Now that's a very good point lol.

For info, mines a 2.0 diesel elegance estate, 2011 for the op to compare against if needed
