pano roof's impact on handling

Featured Replies

anyone had a chance to back-to-back two Kodiaqs on a twisty road, one with a sunroof and the other without, and noticed a difference in body control ? also, is it possible to let windows down from the key fob without opening the sunroof ?

Sunroof can be coded out with VCDS.

I test drove one without, and ours has a pano roof. The test drive was hardly an opportunity to explore the handling, but my experience of driving ours with a pano roof is that on the rare occasion you do get to push it, the handling is quite impressive for what it is. It’s remarkably resistant to understeer (compared to our XC40 which is an understeering pig) and you’ll notice the high centre of gravity well before any possible reduction in chassis rigidity makes itself known.

In my experience, if you’re driving on the public road and pushing the Kodiaq to the point you think the chassis lacks rigidity, you need to have a word with yourself.

If you're driving a Skoda SUV to the point the reduced rigidity of the panoramic sunroof is noticeable then you've definately bought the wrong car.

I would have thought the increased weight might be noticeable, especially on the lower output engines.

The biggest effect will be the eventual water ingress and potential for inflated insurance claims after replacing a cracked glass panel.

There have been an increasing number of complaints of the blind getting jammed recently too.

My current car has a panoramic roof, in two and a half years I’ve never opened it apart from to test it.    I’ve not bothered getting one on the Kodiaq,  can’t really see the point in it.

I just use the pano roof for the added light. Never open it.
