1.0 Power Loss

Finally took it out for a bit to take my son to collect meds.

It now runs fine (as it did before the warnings came up).

Ok for a 1 litre, nothing more though. Still remarkably gutless below 2k, and still has a slight flat spot around 3k.

The thought of this fault happening again (outside guarantee) for a 3rd time is certainly pushing me towards disposing of the vehicle though.

I expect there are bargains to be had right now. Dealer groups must be desperate for some business.

The Arona you had temporarily, was it a nice drive and ok with the 1ltr?

I've been going round in circles which one to buy, it started with the Arona and now looking again at it.

Been also looking at Hyundai Kona or Tuscan although the Tuscan is a little on the large size for my liking.

Considered also Suzuki Vitara or S-cross, all 1ltr except the Tuscan.

New Suzuki's will only be available as 'Light Hybrids',

but then that will be the same in the not too distant future with Small Petrol Skoda with a DSG.

@MickA The Arona has a chassis markedly more modern and sophisticated than the Toledo (it should do to, being a jacked up Ibiza Mk6 in the main)

On a first drive of some 50 miles cross-country it obviously had way more handling and grip than I was used to, and a better ride too. Really confidence inspiring on B roads in a way neither Toledo has ever been.

I drove the 1.0/95 SE Technology and it seemed to have rather more usable torque than my 110, and it was just a much nicer drive in every way.

The interior is wider too, so the only thing you lose is the vast boot.

Pre-reg price right now is 14k

I have a 1 litre Octavia registered in 2018.  Enough power for me particularly given the size of the car.  Quiet, smooth and a comfortable ride.  Much better than my previous Fabias.
