Karoq Scout...how many boot hooks?

Featured Replies

Just taken delivery of our new Karoq Scout.

We have had 2x Yetis in the past and I found the boot hooks very useful (the ones that are on the 2 bars on eithwr side of the boot that can be swung up and slid alongbthe rails)

The Yetis had 2 hooks on each side, and photos online show 2 hooks eack side in the Karoq.

Our new car has only a single hook on each side (2 in total)

Should there be 4 hooks?

I am thinking someone at the dealers has been a bit 'nimble fingered' and borrowed them for sale to another customer (its not the first time I have seen this happen).

On my 2018 Karoq SEL I have four hooks

Hope this helps

In a typical Skoda dealer  response.  " They all do it "

See here, specifically the 12th bullet point...

Skoda cost cutting at its best, and we'd all better get used to it, as its only going to get worse.

Whilst the linked thread above relates specifically to the Kodiaq, you can bet your bottom dollar the same changes (or similar) will have been rolled out to the Karoq too.

Allegedly you can pick up your missing two boot hooks at your local Skoda dealership in exchange for 48 toilet rolls.....

Got mine 2 weeks ago and it only has 1 per side. I thought there would be 4

2 hooks on each side!

Not sure now if it should have 2 or 4 hooks. Will ring the dealers and give them a stick talking to and see what the outcome is.

Could be cost cutting or could be they have been 'borrowed'...who knows.

Other than that the Karoq Scout is a hell of a nice car. Just replaced the Octavia Scout, and we have had 2x Yetis and an Octavia Vrs and Fabia Vrs in the past.

Perhaps they'll play fetch with you :D

My SE Tech was delivered a week ago, I was also surprised to see just one bar (with two hooks on it) on the left side of the boot. There's a storage box and an umbrella on the right hand side.

On my SE there is just the one bar (near side) with three sliding hooks and a single smaller hook clipped into a top tether point on the back of the rear seat.

I think folk can use the following  rule of thumb ( here in UK at least but it seems to be the same for all markets ).

Any model with a hard parcel shelf has just one rail with two hooks. ( ie SE, SE TECH, Sportline, Style, Ambition etc )

Any model with the fabric parcel shelf receives two rails and four hooks. ( SEL, Edition, Scout, Drive etc )

If you don't have the correct number of hooks I guess you could contact the dealer, or do what everyone else seems to do - pinch them off a display car

If we're going to contribute by sharing the number of hooks, it would help if you also shared the build date of your Karoq too.

As alreay pointed out, the number of hooks was reduced back in November.

Mine was built January, SEL so has roll up shelf, two rails and one hook per rail.

As already pointed out?  If you're refering to your above comment, your exact words were "you can bet your bottom dollar"  Doesn't that mean it's a guess?

Now I'm not saying you're wrong because I haven't a clue myself, but I'm just going on the following evidence...

Both these cars were registered this month - 2020 models on 20 plate.  ( My own car is Dec '19 and it came with 4 ).

That's why I said "build date", not date of registration.

A Karoq with a '69' or '20' number plate could easily have been built after week 48 2019 (late November), when this particular implementation of cost cutting on the Kodiaq was introduced, so unfortunately looking at current dealer stock of Karoq's isn't going to be conclusive.

I also don't know for sure, but in an effort to help answer the OP's query was why I suggested that if you're volunteering to share with us the number of hooks you have, then in light of the likely event that Skoda have removed them from the standard spec, also telling us when your Karoq was built will be even more beneficial.

My SE Tech with standard split seats (and an armrest hole) was built w/c 4th November 2019 and has 3 x hooks on the left hand side and no arm or hooks on the right. There is one removeable hook in the hole in the seatback of the right hand seat (larger seat with armrest) and a place to put one in the left hand seat but no hook supplied for that one. It seems there are lots of different configurations of hooks on the different models and years built.

Looking at the physical brochure you're right, it shows one bar + two hooks on the near side for the SE with the the hard load cover. I guess I was confused having watched all the Youtube videos demonstarting all the handy stuff in the boot, but forgetting that review cars are invariably high spec with the removable seats and soft load cover.
