Infotainment & Lighting query

Featured Replies

I have the same gateway and this BCM which is either the same or very similar:

Part No SW: 5Q0 937 084 CQ HW: 5Q0 937 084 CG Component: BCM MQBAB H H36 0253

As expected, when on automatic the ambient lighting, dashboard and MIB colours all change when I select different driving modes. Pretty sure it also changes when going between manual/automatic modes too. I'd go and check but it's raining :notme:

As far as I know, the only 'missing' feature is having the individual mode take the colour from the manual setting rather than the on coded on the Fahrprofil_7 channel. I believe this needs the 4344 or above firmware plus changing Ambiente_Fahrprofil_Individual to 7.

Drive mode is currently retained across ignition cycles which I'd very much like to keep

Just to confirm, are you saying that 3Q0 907 530 L - 4326 should allow setting the colour of the individual driving mode from the headunit?

Can't confirm that on 100%. Next week I am going to do this retrofit by myself (already have "correct" gateway, but I need to change BCM to FL BCM, because my BCM not supports personalization and ambient lighting).

Regarding the flashing.. I am sorry, I did a mistake. SW version (like 4326, 4328 and so on) is not important for situation what can I flash on certain gateway.

The import is the three letter version of HW (like 5xx and 4xx). This means, that HW version above 5xx have the problem with resetting drive mode selection to NORMAL.

I tried on my car version 521 (which has the problems I described earlier) and now I have version 442 without any problems.

On Monday, I am going to add the FL BCM and I can test for you, if the ambient lighting should work how you described this.

So, how you can find out, which SW can go to certain gateway:

You need to follow the HW version (example 442). You can flash on this gateway "every" SW for HW 442, but still with the possibility of "burning" the unit. You need to do it in small steps.

I will try to investigate it more the next week (maybe on Monday)

I was in a googling mood so I've done a bit more searching while I wait for Krosta to come back with their experiences. Mostly as I like to have an idea of what I'm getting into...

There are (at least) three types of 3Q0 gateway:

- 4xx running SW:4xxx, made by Lear, black, with a white sticker

- 5xx running SW:5xxx, made by Continental, black, no sticker

- 6xx running SW:6xxx, made by Continental, black, no sticker

I only care about Lear gateways, it seems there are a few different, common versions:

3Q0 907 530 C 418 4286
3Q0 907 530 G 433 4303
3Q0 907 530 L 436 4326
3Q0 907 530 Q 439 4344
3Q0 907 530 AA 442 4366
3Q0 907 530 AA 442 4368
3Q0 907 530 AC 442 4388

While I agree it's safest to stick with 4xx/4xxx combinations from that list, I've found two obvious examples where it's not the case:

- 3Q0907530AA running 4368 on 433 here

- 3Q0907530AC running 4388 on 436 here

Based on those, I feel it should be possible to flash my gateway to get a 3Q0907530AA 436 4368.

Obviously, I'd prefer 3Q0907530AC 4388 to match the second example but that firmware is not in the current flashdata files

My only worries are, after the update:

- will the gateway need parametrising?

- will I need component protection pairing?

- will my SWaP/FeC codes need reapplying?

Given I need to use my car this weekend, I won't be trying anything until at least next week on the off-chance I mess something up :notme:

You just need to stick with HW version 436 and you are safe to flash the SW.

I am not sure. I always do parametrising when changing units. If the gateway was in Octavia before, it should be OK without doing parametrisation.

100% sure, that this is needed. Everytime you put "new" unit to your car, you need to do component protection removal.

In gateway is SWaP codes for drive mode selection, cruise control (not ACC) and fatigue recognition assistant (not aware of any other SWaP code). If you have anything from this (at least you have drive mode selection), you need to do restoration of SWaP codes.

@Krosta - I think you've misunderstood what I'm trying to do.

I have a 3Q0 907 530 L (436 4326) gateway fitted in my Octavia. It's the original factory fitted gateway so it's correctly parameterised, CP is paired and has the correct SWaP codes installed.

I don't want to replace or fit a new gateway, I want to flash/upgrade it to SW:4368 using FL_3Q0907530AA_4368__V002_S.frf from the VW flash data :)

Will that wipe the parameters/CP pairing/SWaP codes?

Sorry for not being clear and thanks again.

Oh, sorry for this.

As far as I know, there should be no problem with anything from what you have mentioned. If you want to be 100% sure, I can ask my friend next week. I think that he knows this for sure.

Yes please! Thank you :)

So, I asked my friend and he told me, that you can't be sure on 100%, but he never had problem with this.

I have to say, that I did SW downgrade and upgrade of gateway too and without any problem.
You can try it, but still be prepared for possible complication. :D

Thanks! I'll see what I can find out and report back :)

If this is successful I’d love to know as then I can get it working on mine too :)

I’ve just re read this, are you saying the automatic function works on your car? Other than the individual mode? I appear to be running the same BCM and Gateway but mine does not work, Automatic option appears but the colour does not change with the mode. In any case I can flash, but interested to know if yours is working with L revision Gateway as mine isn’t.

 Thanks

Yup, automatic mode works as expected so the ambient lighting, MIB and dashboard colours change when the driving mode changes.

Individual mode works ish - it can use any colour set in Fahrprofil_7 without a problem.

I think stock behaviour should let the driver change the individual colour by taking the current colour from the manual selection. This doesn't work :worried:

Setting Ambiente_Fahrprofil_Individual to 7 makes the accent colour constantly change (~twice per second) between the colour set in Fahrprofil_7 and the colour set via the manual selection... From what I've found so far, this is down to the SW version of the CAN gateway.

I’m going to gave to look at this again as it didn’t change with the mode on my car, but then again the mode button wasn’t lighting up correctly and although it did change the mode, the BCM wasn’t coded like that when I bought it, suggesting that the car it came from may not have had the correct PR code for drive mode and that could be the issue rather than the Gateway. Interesting. This doesn’t seem to work on the 530G version Gateway cars, the option isn’t in the Gateway.

If you can dump the adaption channels for the BCM and gateway, feel free to chuck them over in a PM and I'll have a quick look over them :)

Will do! Will be while though as the BCM is out of the car now and I’m on the old one. It’s stuck at my Dad’s and I can’t get it haha. Don’t have a backup handy I don’t think. Thanks :)

  • 4 weeks later...

Just a quick update, I had the CAN-gateway flashed and parametrised today so it now reports as:

Address 19: CAN Gateway (J533) Labels:| 3Q0-907-530-V1.clb
   Part No SW: 3Q0 907 530 Q HW: 3Q0 907 530 C
Component: GW MQB High 436 4344

After changing "Ambiente_Fahrprofil_Individual" back to 7, it verks!

When in "automatic", the "individual driving mode" colour correctly matches the last one chosen via the "manual" selection. Happy days!

It also seems to remember the last driving mode which is exactly what I was hoping for, win for player

@langers2k - after flashing the gateway it was needed to parametrising, CP removal or SWAP/FEC input?

After flashing I needed to parameterise the gateway.

There were no issues with CP or SWaP/FeC - both were unaffected by the flash and parameterisation :)

Hello Guys,
I've tried to update the SW of my Gateway (LEAR HW:439) from 3Q0907530Q to 3Q0907530AC, but I've got an error at the end of the flashing process. I can flash the 3Q0907530AA version without any complication. Is the AC version's file corrupt or what is the working flash methode? I've attached the mentioned file. Thank you!
