Maps update

Featured Replies

Hi all, hope you are all ok. Do you know if I can use micro SD with adaptor to update my maps from 2017 to 2020 or does it have to be an SD card?? thank you and stay safe.

If you have an Amundsen system then you need to do it on the proper Skoda card but if it’s a Columbus I have no idea, try it and tell us :)

Can you just connect to WLAN and download the updates?

When I'm doing it that way it doesn't work. It doesn't see any updates and it says that there is an error.

I can see the updates in settings but haven’t tried to download them yet.  I can’t see why you can’t do maybe give it a try.

So do you connect to home WLAN or a mobile phone one??

I don’t see why you can’t do either, using your home Wi-fi won’t cost you anything if you use mobile data it probably will. I normally use my iPhone to hotspot and I get a good monthly allowance so I might use that for simplicity.

Yes I think that is possible but haven’t tried it yet. The other way is by downloading maps to an SD card or USB stick on a PC then installing them by inserting with into a slot in the this does not need Wi-fi. Take a look Here see the link to the portal for finding out if the are updates by entering your VIN number, there’s also a useful YouTube video showing the pitfalls. I will have a go at mine this week while we’re in lockdown 😂

That’s weird, I successfully downloaded the updates last night need to unzip them later and put them on an SD card. I only have a micro so I will have use an adapter or use a USB stick but I think I will try the SD card first.  Although it is possible to download the updates direct to the satnav it will probably suffer with intermittent Wi-fi due to the length of time it takes and also would be heavy on data usage.

try the portal again maybe it was just very busy?

As I have a spare 32gb USB stick decided to give that a try first as per BOD20 Instructions (thanks BOD20)

All done and I have to say it was a walk in the park😂 thanks to BOD20’s excellent instructions.
